Uconnect update I actually like… so far

You can try pushing the volume and tune buttons for ~10 seconds to reboot it. I tried doing that to mine while driving and it wouldn't correct itself until I shut the truck off for a while. Once I started it up, everything was back to normal.
Tried all the stuff I could after reading this thread. None of that worked. And I hadn’t read anyone who while driving and fully functioning had it reboot and go back to dance party.

Mine has progressively gotten worse.

Dealership tried flashing unit. Replacing all the appropriate software/firmware and problem instantly returns. So only option is unit replacement.

So I get to drive from Vegas to San Jose with only part of my trucks functionality. (Assuming I can at all). Not sure what if anything will function tied to the infotainment system.

Sucks it is less than two months from initial purchase. Complete garbage software. Testing in production tells me that these “developers” write very poor code with no proper testing, quality, or verification.

This should be a very slow deliberate process. It isn’t. It is clear they are pushing garbage code into production and hoping it works.

Doing this to customers who own $125k + vehicles tells me a lot about the value we have as customers to Ram.

Which obviously doesn’t surprise me as the still haven’t resolved their own theft problem. This is clear because the have no incentive to, as enthusiasts often comeback. Blaming the thieves not the manufacturer.

/end rant

Just pushing and holding the on/off button for 10 secs seems to reboot the infotainment center for me. Sometimes one reboot will fix "stuff" and sometimes it takes a few try's to get everything working again. Good thing is I can do it while driving. Sort of like playing craps and trying to hit the point.

I wished this helped. It does not for me. See my above comment (first half, second is a rant cause obviously frustrated)

Mine does the screen dance party as well, luckily after a reset and few key cycles it goes away for a period of time… then returns. Agree with the rant and rightfully so, these sort of updates should be slow and methodical, not rushed.

Result from dealership in Vegas. After flashing firmware with clean installation, problem persists instantly. So, solution is to replace entire UConnect 5. Which of course has to be in stock.

Love that I have had it for just over 2 months to have this fun experience! An easily preventable one!

Anyone else getting the “Uconnect box error” message? It’s aggravating.

@RamCares Can you ask IT guy if we do a full reset and if we could just load 25.48 or some other stable version via USB and be back to normal? The other option is just to rename an older, stable version as a new number and push it over the air to the TRX block of VIN's. That's likely the source of the problem, TRX is on the RHO vin block for the updates.

Hi everyone,
Our latest update from the software engineering side is confirmation that all customers are expected to receive the AOTA update by the end of this month (September 2025). Once again, this is specifically the graphics fix — we are aware that most of you in this thread and elsewhere have experienced other issues as well, and we are continuing to pass those back to the software team.
We look forward to getting this specific fix out, and then following up to ensure we can address the other issues you've been experiencing.

Hi there, please send our team a private message with your VIN so we can take a further look into this for you.

Wow, another two week slip. While I'm sure we all appreciate the updates the only time you come on here is to give us further bad news that this "fix" keeps getting pushed out.

6 months just to change the graphic???

I’m tired of asking this solution! They just need to upload the latest good firmware version to download in a usb and we can manually rollback these crap latest versions.

Good morning all,

The new AOTA campaign began to roll out yesterday (9/14). We expect that some of you on the forum will receive this first round, so please let us know if you have any issues.
Additionally, for @TyRex questions about rolling back software, this is not possible. The radio will not accept a lower version and your servicing dealer will tell you the same information — if they were to plug in a USB with a lower software version (T branch, for example) while you are already at U branch, a message will pop up not allowing the update to continue. In the past we offered manual software updates, and this is something we have communicated (and will continue to communicate) that customers are very interested in having access to again.

We look forward to seeing this AOTA continue to roll out and do still expect all TRX customers to receive the update in the next two weeks (potentially sooner). As a reminder, the AOTA-only functions a little differently, so you won't see a pop-up message informing you of the update like you do for a FOTA. The AOTAs are 'silent' and happen on the backend, so you'll need to check the affected pages to see if you've received the update and gotten the TRX graphics back.

As always, let us know if there are any other questions we can answer.

Yes please! This would go a long way towards improving the customer experience with UC5. The software update process via USB is actually very simple and takes less than half the time of even the map updates (which can be downloaded by the end user). So there’s no reason not to make the SW available too.

Thanks for the detailed update.
@Eighty RamCares is having to post announcements twice. Is it possible to merge and sticky this and the other thread into one?

We can only hope that "these problems" are truly transitory. In won't be much longer and the transitory belief won't fly here either.

At this point, I don't see any value in merging the two (the other one is 41 pages of posts, so this one will get buried). If anything, I would suggest that @RamCares start a new thread if they want, to announce the AOTA or any other big news. That would actually be ideal, because I didn't see either of these threads until you fired up the Bat Light by calling my name.

Hello Why is there no USB update? Is it really that hard for TRX owners to do this? I paid $150,000 for a car from another country and I can't update my head unit. It's terrible...

What version number are you on now? If it’s lower than T27.46, here is that file. Download and drop right to the root of the flash drive, don’t unzip:

If it’s at T27.46 leave it alone because it’s the best one they were able to produce. As you can probably tell by the 400 pages of complaints, the two versions that came after it are basically shit.
