Finally got my truck and an appointment to install the Ravelco. Anybody with experience with Anthony the installer in the SF East Bay?
Thanks.
Thanks.
While I agree thiefs can get something when they really want to, after almost 800 posts of this thread we have not read about a single TRX with the Ravelco being stolen yet(knock on wood mine being the first).I don’t recall ever reading a post where someone is complaining that their vehicle was stolen with Ravelco installed. Seems like there would be some posts if it was possible to bypass
Totally agree, that’s why I went this route. While I agree thiefs can get something when they really want to, after almost 800 posts of this thread we have not read about a single TRX with the Ravelco being stolen yet(knock on wood mine being the first).
While professional hellcat thieves can duplicate a key fob(footage to back that up) with a laptop plugged under the passenger dash in less than 2 minutes, the last thing I'll personally trust is a CAN BUS based alarm system. Time is all we can ask which thieves don't have at most intances and a bunch of old school unmarked spliced wires might work in our favor.
This is just my opinion, of course.
Chuck and Megan are awesome. They do a great job and are worth the wait.I'll apologize in advance for my ignorance as I only read half the pages in this thread, but, Michigan, options?
I reached out to the Pennsylvania installer, but they definitely are not coming this far and asked for a preferred installation date. My intent was to take the truck to Chicago, but the Chicago installer's website no longer works, the phone number is no longer active, and Mike hasn't responded to a text or e-mail since February. As long as I had to wait (seven months) for the truck, having this thing get stolen is just not an option. I'm picking it up Saturday and will persist in a state of paranoia until I get Ravelco installed. Having vacation plans in late July is not helping.
I completed the form in the e-mail from Chuck Whigham, but it asked for a preferred install location. I'm willing to travel, but appear to be at the mercy of the bundle and schedule process, "we will work on getting you bundled with others customers and scheduled".
Who knows when that could be. Has anyone had luck scheduling a one off install and traveling to a location where other installations were being done? There appears to be nothing anywhere near the northern midwest, which is stunning since Detroit and Chicago are two of the most crime ridden cities in the country.
If you want an IGLA, I have info for an installer in IllinoisI'll apologize in advance for my ignorance as I only read half the pages in this thread, but, Michigan, options?

We're working on a July install at my residence - it would cost me more to drive to them than it costs for the extended trip fee for them to come to me - no brainer there.Chuck and Megan are awesome. They do a great job and are worth the wait.
It is my understanding that any car alarm system sends out a radio frequency identification signal similarly to how a vehicle keyfob works. Therefore, the thieves can capture and reprogram another key disabling the system without your knowledge. I looked into having a Compustar security system installed into my truck with a whole package of sensors like tilt, motion, glass breakage, GPS tracking, etc until I found out that they are easily hacked. I don't claim to be an expert and I would not take my word for it. Do your own research. That is just what I found. I decided to go with Revelco shortly after I picked up my truck from the dealership.I just added a Viper alarm with GPS so I get notified if someone is screwing with my truck! Since they can't drive it off, I'll know if they are trying to tow it or when they break inside.
Yes - Ravelco does nothing to block access to the CAN bus, or communication to/between modules on that bus (including the RF Hub).Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere, but with Ravelco can someone still program a news fob? I realize the truck still would t start up, but it would strand you, the owner, if your fob was now incompatible with your truck.
Is that possible?

I am in agreement and also have the Revelco installed. If your FOB gets disabled, you can find a dealer nearby that can reprogram it, since you still have your truck. Cant do that if its on the way to Mexico.Correct. IMHO though, way better to be stranded WITH your TRX and a fob that no longer works, than WITHOUT your TRX, and a fob that no longer works (o:
I decided on Ravelco as well. No amount of computer or RF wizardry, on ANY system, will defeat it. Seemed logical to me at least to get away from chasing defeats to various RF attack methods. Sometimes the low tech solution is best.
Chuck and Meagan (Mid-Atlantic East Coast Region) installed mine last weekend. Super friendly and efficient, as all the reviews here have said. Works perfectly, and you can't really even see it after it is installed unless you stick your head under there (it is tucked under the dash near the driver's side door).

Just had Chuck and Meagan install my Ravelco! They are a lovely couple, friendly as all get out, and totally pros. Just talking to them, and hearing about the travel they do, I sure hope they are actually able to go on their vacation coming up.
Install was quick, neat, and flawless. Unfortunately, since my truck won’t fit in my garage, they had to sweat it out in our 90 degree heat and humidity.
But if anyone has NOT had one installed, please do. There is so much peace of mind, after seeing Meagan test it, I have zero fears of traveling for work and parking at hotels.
Plus, I love the mounting location they used, it’s practically hidden now.

After looking at my pics and yours, does my hood release cable look out of place? Never noticed until today, so I don’t know long it’s been like that. Could you post a better pic of your cable, to see if I’m missing a clip or something?I really like how yours is mounted! Mine was installed facing forward in the same area, but it blocks access to that left-side screw to access the fuse panel. It's very annoying and I need to figure out a fix!
Here is mine:
