RAVELCO THREAD

Anyone with the Ravelco experience hot pins after a drive? I'd expect them to be warm as some current flows through, but mine can get HOT to the touch.
Nope, I asked Chuck and Meagan about this and they said it should never get that hot. You may want to contact as I see that you're in NJ.

Anyone have experience with Ravelco of the Rockies?

Chuck and Megan installed Ravelco on my truck today. They are great people and very knowledgeable. Had the whole thing wrapped up in 2 hours. Nice to have the peace of mind and barely see it even with the plug installed.

Chuck was raving about how beautiful your truck is today (I’m assuming he only did one sandblast today)

Yeah Chuck really liked the color and the set up on the Sandblast said it was the first one they had done.

I guess I never touched the pins before, but I can confirm that mine get hot AF too. I've had Ravelco installed since early March without a hiccup, but that plug can probably double up as a cigarette lighter too. 🤣

😟

I've had mine for awhile now, and have touched the pins numerous times. They have never even felt warm to me, even right after removing it. 🤷‍♂️

Chuck and Megan will be visiting me Friday 9/15/22, looking forward to the install!

A bit late, but yes, I got my Ravelco installed by Ravelco of the Rockies. I know a couple of other people on this thread also had it installed by them.

When I made my appointment, they were just starting a branch in Loveland, and I would have been their first install. I opted to go to their shop in Denver, forget which suburb. Larry is the person I worked with, very happy with the result.

Chuck txted me today saying he was by my neighborhood. I'm in Hauppauge, NY.
Anyone getting their ride done by them tomorrow?

any way you could install this yourself? i cant imagine it would be rocket science. I live in OHIO as well and no dealers :(

Yes - I thought I saw on their website where you could order it direct for self-install (precisely for those areas not covered by an installer). No, it's not very complicated - you just need to understand basic automotive circuits... know the difference between control-side and switched-sides of a relay, the difference between the line side and load side of a switched circuit, how to read a schematic, and how to trace out wires in a harness. If you can cut, splice, and solder a couple of wires (NEATLY), it's not a problem. The better job you do, and the more you hide your work, the more effective the system becomes.

I have a cousin in port jeff and one in manorville. They both grew up in patchogue.
I asked Chuck and Megan what rides were they working on when he txted me he was in the neighborhood, this was his reply:

"We have performed Ravelco installations in a 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Scat Pack, 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and 2022 RAM 1500 TRX yesterday. Tomorrow morning we have a 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor in Ronkonkoma, NY which is a recovered theft which almost made it on a container ship in Canada... Then we head home for a few days before making another run to Pennsylvania, New York, and then the New England states."

These guys are all over the place. When he was at my house working on my truck he said he had done an install at a powerplant's truck that had tons of expensive equipment on board.

Brett (the guy who did mine) mentioned the same job - it was in the Carolinas. He said they did installs on an assload of heavy equipment.
Assload is a technical term. I don’t use it lightly.

I think by now we would have heard of thefts with Ravelcos being some of us(myself included) have had these systems for over a year.

I'm sure thieves can take something they really want (did you guys see the video of them push starting a hellcat??) But at least to me the Ravelco and shock sensors allowed me to enjoy this truck without being paranoid with theft

Was that the one where a truck was utilized to "push start"?

Yeah they came all the way down to VA to do mine and another members last weekend. Sounds like they almost exclusively do Hellcats these days. But man, they did a great job and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Some people may find it annoying to have to carry around the extra fob but I don't carry any other keys on my truck keyring so having the detachable fob on there is no problem. Definitely worth the investment and peace of mind.
