RAVELCO THREAD

Just had Chuck and Meagan install my Ravelco! They are a lovely couple, friendly as all get out, and totally pros. Just talking to them, and hearing about the travel they do, I sure hope they are actually able to go on their vacation coming up.

Install was quick, neat, and flawless. Unfortunately, since my truck won’t fit in my garage, they had to sweat it out in our 90 degree heat and humidity.

But if anyone has NOT had one installed, please do. There is so much peace of mind, after seeing Meagan test it, I have zero fears of traveling for work and parking at hotels.

Plus, I love the mounting location they used, it’s practically hidden now.

I really like how yours is mounted! Mine was installed facing forward in the same area, but it blocks access to that left-side screw to access the fuse panel. It's very annoying and I need to figure out a fix!

Here is mine:

I had my Ravelco installed a couple weeks ago by Chuck and Meagan. Super friendly, professional, and did great work as all the reviews have said. Could not be happier with the system or them as installers.

For all of you still considering Ravelco and how to mount it, these two options are by far the most common, and I would argue that NEITHER of them is the clear winner.

The "hidden" option is what Chuck and Meagan normally do, and it's what I went with. Super slick, and you can't really even see it unless you stick your head under there. Even with the plug installed. Looks great, but it creates an unforeseen issue. Which is, it is super easy to pull the cap off, but not to install it. The "feel" is not instinctive or easy, at least not in my experience. Over time that will probably improve, but at the moment, I usually have to stick my head under there and look at it to get the cap on properly. Bit of a pain in the butt. Your mileage may vary, but it is worth considering before you pick one or the other (looks vs. ease of use).

My install location suggested was perfect. Its right there when I open the door, the tab is at the 9 oclock position, and I dont need to do yoga to plug it in, super easy and takes 2 seconds.

Give it some time. Once you get the feel for it it only takes a second.

My brother had this on the truck he just traded in and said sticking the plug in each time was a PITA but better to have a PITA than lose a $100K vehicle.

Yeah it will come in time I'm sure, just isn't as easy as I anticipated. And yes, WAY better to take an extra 10 seconds yet have peace of mind.

Was a PITA for about a week for me, now its second nature and well worth the piece of mind

Thats my main concern, especially when traveling and pulling a trailer. The whole damn setup goes if they manage to get the truck started.

From what I have read, Ravelco protected vehicle has never been stolen.

Same, thats why I decided on this solution over others. And I susbcribe to the KISS principle.

I got my truck a few weeks ago and just got this installed this week. I live in Michigan, so there are no installers within 10 hrs of me. Revelco sent me the unit with instructions. My friend who does electric work with Autos helped me install it. Took about three hours. I feel much better having it on, especially when it has to be left outside overnight.

Anyone with the Ravelco experience hot pins after a drive? I'd expect them to be warm as some current flows through, but mine can get HOT to the touch.
