Does anyone know any installers for Ravelco around NYC area.
I had a hard enough time programming the ACC switch let alone bypassing the ignitionI scheduled a Ravelco installation today.....
So, I plasti dipped the base and the cap in black before he installed it. took just a couple minutes to dry enough for him to install so it didn't stand out so much...matches the interior. I take the plug out every time I leave the truck....it's attached to my key fob. For this reason, I didn't want it mounted under the steering column since that would be a pain to get at each time. I had him mount it directly next to the interior light knob. He said he had done a bunch of the TRX and it looked best there plus its easily accessible when you are getting in or out and using it all the time. The hanging key doesn't hit my knee and he did a great job installing it so it looks factory. You don't necessarily want to hide the base like you would a kill switch. My thought is better to let them know it is there so they don't rip the whole truck apart trying to find the kill switch or trying to start it by pulling the steering column apart. Let them try to disable the revelco....they will give up!!!
My install is scheduled for Thursday, WOW it takes balsl to mount it there, looks great. I wonder about mounting it just below yours and to the right in that recessed area.. thoughts? thanks
.worst comes to worse, they mess up that piece. It just snaps off and can be replaced but yeah, I was like “are you sure it will look good and not screw up the leather?” He assured me he had done a bunch the same way…..and seemed confident when he said it.
My thoughts….and to each their own. Don’t put the stickers that say revelco on the window. It’s ugly and advertises that if you want to steal it you need to tow it. I would rather someone break in or use a fob replicator to gain access and then have them see it and say fuck this let’s find something easier. If it’s inconspicuous or hidden they will tear your truck apart looking for the kill switch. Lastly, if you plan to use it every time you park like I do, then putting it somewhere inconspicuous would be a PITA since you need to plug it in each time. Now you all have me considering making it conspicuous so they see it and move the eff along. Nice job on the pplatinum!
You'd think they would have a few colors available...
Yeah. I agree. My thoughts….and to each their own. Don’t put the stickers that say revelco on the window. It’s ugly and advertises that if you want to steal it you need to tow it. What if we think like the thieves and leave our own AirTag in the truck somewhere? Obviously wouldn’t stop a theft but recover ASAP.
Not exactly how it works. My wife and I use AirTags in our vehicles so I have first hand experience with them.I may not understand exactly how they work, but if there is an AirTag in your vicinity ( TRX ) and you ( or the thief) has an iPhone, then you'll get a warning from your iPhone that you are being tracked. In which you can make it chirp allowing them to throw it out. ( or more deviously, place it on some moving object!!) - Thus being kinda' worthless in this situation.
. . . so great for finding your misplaced keys, but . . . that's about it.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. They will be notified if they take the stolen vehicle to their house.. . . so you're saying the thief will not get the warning on their iPhone until they drive by where they took it from a second time? Or drive past your designated Home location . . .
Either way, the thief gets notified. Still sounds pretty worthless to me!
