TRX Stolen Dallas area

That blows!
If mine doesn't get to D1 soon, I'm gonna steal one.. But it'll be from a Dealership charging 20k+ MSRP... and Texas would be the last place I'd steal anything.

So, I plasti dipped the base and the cap in black before he installed it. took just a couple minutes to dry enough for him to install so it didn't stand out so much...matches the interior. I take the plug out every time I leave the truck....it's attached to my key fob. For this reason, I didn't want it mounted under the steering column since that would be a pain to get at each time. I had him mount it directly next to the interior light knob. He said he had done a bunch of the TRX and it looked best there plus its easily accessible when you are getting in or out and using it all the time. The hanging key doesn't hit my knee and he did a great job installing it so it looks factory. You don't necessarily want to hide the base like you would a kill switch. My thought is better to let them know it is there so they don't rip the whole truck apart trying to find the kill switch or trying to start it by pulling the steering column apart. Let them try to disable the revelco....they will give up!!!

.worst comes to worse, they mess up that piece. It just snaps off and can be replaced but yeah, I was like “are you sure it will look good and not screw up the leather?” He assured me he had done a bunch the same way…..and seemed confident when he said it.

Now you all have me considering making it conspicuous so they see it and move the eff along. Nice job on the pplatinum!

You'd think they would have a few colors available...

My thoughts….and to each their own. Don’t put the stickers that say revelco on the window. It’s ugly and advertises that if you want to steal it you need to tow it. I would rather someone break in or use a fob replicator to gain access and then have them see it and say fuck this let’s find something easier. If it’s inconspicuous or hidden they will tear your truck apart looking for the kill switch. Lastly, if you plan to use it every time you park like I do, then putting it somewhere inconspicuous would be a PITA since you need to plug it in each time.

I put mine down low in the kick panel since it's out of sight as I couldn't stomach drilling in the leather on the dash. I also put my wifes in the same place on her DDHC. I also installed Optimus GV75 battery powered GPS trackers that are hardwired and hidden very well in the vehicle. If they remove the battery from the vehicle, the battery in the gps tracker will last a week or so.

Yeah. I agree.

Holy shit, that sucks!
I cannot believe Dodge/Ram is doing nothing about this issue.
I also cannot believe the insurance industry is not FLAMING Dodge/Ram about this issue!

I just don’t know how Ram allows this to continually happen. They should build you a new LE asap!

Crazy stuff. My TRX was parked at a hotel 9 minutes from there, all weekend long. I had the Ravelco installed last week. I've had it in three of my previous Ram trucks, one was attempted stolen (Ram 2500 diesel) and they couldn't get it started so they abandoned the effort.

What if we think like the thieves and leave our own AirTag in the truck somewhere? Obviously wouldn’t stop a theft but recover ASAP.

You know- my buddies keep giving me shit about my growing concern for getting my future TRX stolen. So every time I see a post like this- I screenshot it and send it to them. They seem to think I’m making this up- like people aren’t really “after” my truck. I think they most definitely are. And downside- since I recently moved to Texas and waiting for housing market to open up- I don’t have a garage. I did buy a car cover though- thinking maybe it’ll be less obvious what’s underneath….when it gets here I’ll put it on my Rebel and then in a few months (hopefully) make the switch. Altho- sounds like it’s risky to even drive this truck anywhere during the day. Damn it. Torments my dreams.

I may not understand exactly how they work, but if there is an AirTag in your vicinity ( in your TRX ) and you ( or the thief) has an iPhone, then they'll get a warning from their iPhone that they are being tracked. In which they can make it chirp allowing them to throw it out. ( or more deviously, place it on some other moving object!!) - Thus being kinda' worthless in this situation.

. . . so great for finding your misplaced keys, but . . . that's about it.

Not exactly how it works. My wife and I use AirTags in our vehicles so I have first hand experience with them.

An AirTag can only be linked to one iCloud account. I have mine and my wife has hers. She has one hidden in her Jeep to help with recovery if it’s taken. If I drive her Jeep somewhere without her, it doesn’t tell there is an AirTag tracking me until I return home. At that point I will get an alert on my iPhone telling me that Angela’s AirTag has been tracking your location and gives me the option of temporarily or permanently disable the alerts. It also shows a map with a dotted outline of all the places I’ve stopped since it started tracking me.

I’ve not taken her Jeep away from the house for multiple days but I believe it will notify you after 72 hours of continuous tracking if you haven’t been to your designated home location.

. . . so you're saying the thief will not get the warning on their iPhone until they drive by where they took it from a second time? Or drive past your designated Home location . . .

Either way, the thief gets notified. Still sounds pretty worthless to me!

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. They will be notified if they take the stolen vehicle to their house.

I have to take your word for it that it works. If nothing else it gives you piece of mind. It just seems to me that the stars have to align in order for the thing to work.

. . . like it won't track too well ( if at all ) in rural areas ( no other iPhones around), yeah? Great in the city though.

I dunno' . . the only thing I do know is, I'm not convinced. LOL.
