TRX Stolen Dallas area

Sorry to hear this, it's a huge problem around here. Probably too late but I'll definitely keep an eye out. It sounds like the late model GM trucks and SUV's are a prime target for thiefs right now too. I guess they use onstar to unlock/start the vehicle, disable onstar, and then replace the computer with their own making it impossible to track. There should be stiffer penalties for these pieces of trash.

Where I'm from, they just carjack you at gunpoint. They don't want to go through the trouble of starting the car themselves. They want it nice and warm when they get in it.

Does the factory security system not sound the alarm on glass breakage? I would think sitting in a truck with a broken window for 4 minutes with the horn going off would be a deterrent.

This seems like a theft that would have been prevented by the RF-Hub security update. It locks the hub so miscreants can't break in and reprogram a new key.

The thread from December about the update concluded it wasn't yet available for TRX. I bumped the thread, and maybe they've started rolling it out to TRX.

If my shit gets stolen, I'm out. Fuck RAM. Not a single word with all these thefts. They seem to not give a shit for putting out a system that sucks balls and does not provide ANY layer of protection.
3:30pm in a damn HD parking lot...these thefts are getting ridiculous.

Any thought on this add on? I've pinged them on cost.

BTW - sorry! They need found and beaten.
They got back to me - $155 for the kit. They'll send an install video for the TRX. I've read where it takes 30 to 60 minutes. So, a pro shop install and kit should be around $250. Kit B3504.

Seems like this is a solid add to the factory system and works with your FOB. I don't think any cutting is involved either, but I would need to ask.

They also sell a tailgate trigger. Treats it like a 5th door. Neat.

That does suck, however, that’s some balls doing that in daylight. I’ve seen the videos of this. Key is an aftermarket alarm. The oem is easy to fool with a specific glass break. 2nd keep fob in faraday bag. 3rd for the fob they have locks or dummy ports or even relocated port in locked glove box.

Sorry to here about your lost, horse thieves use to be hang and today if you steal a coral of 702 horses you get a slap on the wrist....I thinking a hidden sw for the fuel pump might be in order, or using one of our outfitter switches...

It sucks, and having to live with legitimate paranoia bc you drive a frequently stolen vehicle means you have to act defensively. I do not daily my Trackhawk, nor did I daily my Hellcat. I have a beater I drive. But, when I do drive them I make sure I can have eyes on if possible. I do not park near anyone else. If you park in a gaggle of cars, anyone who wants to mess with your car becomes less conspicuous. I go in to whatever store and I wait inside (as if I’ve started shopping) and look to see if anyone is going near my car. If anyone is noticing my car, I make sure they KNOW that I am noticing them. Look them in the eye and give them a “Howdy”. You don’t have to be a prick about it. Sometimes I’ll go in and come back out and go to my car if I feel something is not right. Seem a little extreme? Probably, until your carjacked or come back to broken glass and no car. Just be aware of your surroundings.

This is intriguing.

Just plug in and it'll monitor for any impacts. Ping your phone in 6 seconds. No wires. Anyone use it?

I wonder if they would do a group buy. I'd definitely get one either way, just an added layer of security.

pull the fuel relay when you go inside stores. 30 sec to do so. And leave the doors unlocked.

I can ask if there's sufficient interest.

They just got back - said it's very easy and you don't need an installer. 40 minutes tops and a DIY job.

I asked about a group buy.

It's not the RAM it's the police and the liberal laws. At least in our state. If they get caught, they let them out the same day and give them a gift certificate to incentivize returning for there court date. "Bail reform" There is no reason to work a $15 hour job when there is no repercussion for stealing a new truck. Most don't get charged with theft they get charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. No jail, pleaded to a mister meaner all the time.
Why not steal?

I'm pretty sure in rural Alabama, if somebody breaks into my house I can shoot them and the sheriff will pat me on the back and say good job. But I'm not sure I can do that if they're in my yard stealing my truck. I would probably go to jail and lose everything I own if I even brandished a gun outside, unless I can somehow argue I feared for my life.

I agree with you, but being we can't change NY(by vote, legally), we only have as option some sort of solution from RAM. Dodge has been offering updates that increase security for their vehicles, RAM hasn't said a word. Most thefts are taking less than 2 mins. Window, laptop, gone. We see Hellcats stolen in every media outlet possible. Just look in this forum, how many threads of stolen Dodge and rams with that engine. It's sickening.
