TRX Stolen Dallas area

I remember when parking in the back of the lot away from everyone was considered safe. Seems like parking right by the front packed between two cars might be safer since our trucks are practically free for the taking due to lack of good security measures. So sorry to hear about this. Hopefully insurance cashes you out for 10k over MSRP and makes it worth your while.

And that’s what I always do….. park all the way to the back to avoid the door dings….I avoided the dings but in exchange I got her stollen…. Lol
Luckily I bought at MSRP…. It took 8 months to get it and 4 minutes to have it gone…..😡🤬😡🤬

Damn - sorry, my friend. I used to live right around the corner on Starling (bird streets), that was my Home Depot. I hope they catch the assholes that did this.

When the F is Ram going to take accountability for this shit... I'm sorry this happened man. This shit is unacceptable anymore. What the hell can anyone do to prevent this stupid flaw... I'm legit terrified to drive it anywhere, and I don't even have my truck yet. Whats the point of owning this thing if someone can drive off with it while you stop at a port o potty....unreal

Everyone is taking about the dodge updates that rolled out but I’m not sure it’s helping with both kinds of theft. It seems like you can either have a duplicate key fob made with a locksmith program plugged into the obd port or you can do the repeater box. I thought the update would kill the ability to use a locksmith box to make a new key fob but not help with the repeater boxes…

Once you're connected to the canbus you can easily add/remove FOBs. A beater $50 laptop, a can interface and a tool to break the window are all that's needed to steal these trucks. The software update that locks the RF Hub (which our "very competent" friends at Stellantis are only offering for Chargers/Challengers - even though the parts are virtually identical!) needs to be applied to lock the hub from adding any additional FOBs which will add more difficulty to stealing these vehicles. At that point, (depending on the hub location) the thieves will need to bring a replacement unlocked RF Hub along to continue stealing vehicles in this manner.
So this won’t help if you use a repeater box?

Sorry for your loss bro.

Seeing as how there is a known issue with these vehicles I’m surprised a class action lawsuit has not been filed against Dodge/Ram.

Totally sucks and I hope the M'F's are found, resist arrest and wind up with a fatal dose of lead poisoning...

We need our lawmakers (fat chance with the pussy brigade in control now) to enact laws making auto theft a federal crime with a minimum 10 years hard time-and that for the first offense.

2021 Launch Edition Stolen today 1/7/22 around 3:30pm from Home Depot parking lot on Inwood and Lemmon.....

Ravelco it is! I was leaning kill switch but a zero vehicles stolen in 45 years. Sold.
Ravelco is the way to go. For me it is peace of mind knowing that even if it gets broken into, they will not be able to get it started. I watched them install it. Even if you know exactly where the installer ran the wires, which thieves wouldn’t, it would still take you about 45 minutes working under the hood to disable the system and get the truck started. Thieves are going to go find something easier. They are lazy. If they weren’t they would have a real job and work for a living like the rest of us. Only way your getting the truck easily is with a flatbed or tow truck and according to auto theft statistics, the number of cars being stolen this way is extremely small as compared to copying the FOB or using a computer. $600 and loss of remote start is worth the peace of mind to me.

Despite it being ugly…Anything you don’t like about it. Do you find it catching your leg if it was mounted under the steering wheel by the parking break/ hood release.

Have this remote battery disconnects on my airstream, cobalt, and canam. Would it work on the TRX, I’ve heard the make a small battery lighter socket to keep the clock and memories working while battery is disconnected

Should slow somebody down, this is the remote , the battery disconnect switch is about another $140

So, I plasti dipped the base and the cap in black before he installed it. took just a couple minutes to dry enough for him to install so it didn't stand out so much...matches the interior. I take the plug out every time I leave the truck....it's attached to my key fob. For this reason, I didn't want it mounted under the steering column since that would be a pain to get at each time. I had him mount it directly next to the interior light knob. He said he had done a bunch of the TRX and it looked best there plus its easily accessible when you are getting in or out and using it all the time. The hanging key doesn't hit my knee and he did a great job installing it so it looks factory. You don't necessarily want to hide the base like you would a kill switch. My thought is better to let them know it is there so they don't rip the whole truck apart trying to find the kill switch or trying to start it by pulling the steering column apart. Let them try to disable the revelco....they will give up!!!

Can you post a pic of your setup? Interested in purchasing once my truck arrives.

How about some pics! So we can see the results of PlastiDip as well as clear shots of the location.

Perhaps a silly question, but what if you lose the plug? Or you drop it and it bends a prong? Is that possible? Do they give you a spare?
Yes, and I think replacements ( if you lose the 2nd) are 75 each.

. . . additionally, in the interest of security, extra plugs are kinda' a PITA to get.
