RAVELCO THREAD

I got mine installed this past Wednesday and I feel 100 times better. Yes I lost remote start, but I have a truck to start that I can park at a store and feel much better. They used a grey plug on mine, not white. No issues
Pics? I want to see how gray it is

Here’s a sample pic of the plug.

I've hit the start button a couple of times with the plug out. Then fished in my pocket and inserted the plug without turning the truck off, and it didn't throw any codes (your mileage may vary). But fair warning - the truck starts as soon as the plug makes contact.
I did try turning the truck off once when I realized the plug was out. But nothing happened - the truck was stuck in "run" until I inserted the plug. It was rather confusing, but I didn't stop to try it again. I just inserted the plug and moved on.
Following up on this, I did it again yesterday (tried to start the truck without the plug). Truck wouldn't go to "off" when I hit the start button - it was still stuck in "run". Since I had a few minutes to experiment, I finally figured out why. Had to take my dumbass foot off of the brake pedal, then hit the button, and the truck went back to "off".

the other guy's is 2 shades darker...how hard would it be to have a black one done to match the interior better
It’s just the lighting. Look at my cap with a led on it in the truck vs on a white piece of paper. His was on a dark table as well. It’s not white so I’m good with it

Agreed. Here’s my same plug on a white piece of paper. The camera does funny things depending on the background.

thanks for that tip - I'm sure it will save me some consternation in the future as I know I would have done the same thing.

I paid in cash for the installation and tossed him an extra $50. He was not expecting it and seemed appreciative, but maybe that was some peasant shit I pulled.:ROFLMAO:

I asked the installer this same question. His answer was like a reflex it was so quick, which lead me to believe he's been asked it a million times. I'm not going to quote what he said because I'll butcher it like the T-bone and butcher's ass line from Tommy Boy.

That said, he mentioned with the various shades of black in a vehicle it would never really match and could look like shit. I don't really buy that but the ugly plug doesn't bother me one bit like I was afraid it would.

Have you seen this? It's right around the corner from where you are

How much is everyone tipping the installer?
If you are buying a $700 dinner for the family and the food and service are excellent what do you tip? 15-20% ? Now you have a guy driving to you, crawling around your ~$90k truck for 3 hours being extremely careful to do perfect work and not damage or scratch it and the bill is also ~$700..

. ??

FWIW my truck was $79k and he took 1.5hr tops.

(juust trying to justify my shitty tip now)😂

I tipped them $50, and they seemed thankful and appreciative. I felt that was ok based on what the system cost me to have installed, and what it actually cost them to buy. I would imagine the cost to manufacture what you are actually having installed is nominal, so the mark up is pretty stiff. When I take it to get ceramic coated, and the bed cover to be installed, I will not be tipping, just paying the agreed upon price for the agreed upon work to be performed, so I felt $50 was fine.

getting my Ravelco installed Wednesday (y)
Hey Jeffro,
I'm in Florida been trying to find the Ravelco guy, can you send me his #? I'm in Broward county. Left an email for someone but never heard back.

I called Ravelco they and talked to some guy who sounded like he was on his cell phone. He said they would have the installer call me but nothing so far. I also emailed and still haven’t heard from them. Is there any way to put this thing in the center console So it’s outta sight?

@Centrofly When did you send the email? They got back to me the following Monday and booked me two days later. I would like to bet they call you Monday. If they don't ill send you the installers number, but I don't think he does the bookings. Don't believe they work over the weekends. They did a awesome install BTW, took 1.5 hrs, worth the wait 🏆
