RAVELCO THREAD

So the guy that does installs in the Austin/ San Antonio area is a flake! Does anyone have an installer in the Houston area that they would recommend?
What do you mean? He messaged me late last night, said they are remarkably busy and offered three dates for install.

What was your experience?

He doesn't respond and then all of the sudden will text me a week later. Go back and forth for a few minutes then stops responding. I contacted him 3 - 4 weeks from my estimated delivery date and he said he just needs a 1 week notice to get me scheduled. When that time came, he didn't answer phone calls, emails or text messages.

I'm done, I don't trust the guy to keep an appointment if he does finally let me schedule one. I'll just go to Houston. Hopefully you have better luck.

I will say he could be better at communicating. I find this with more people as time passes. You'd think with the phones and other devices we have access to these days people would be great at communicating.

Not so much.

That said, I'm a guy who responds in minutes to typically a few hours, but that isn't the timeline most people use.

Hell, AMP just took 3 days to respond to an email. They also still have not responded to a question I sent them over a week ago. Why? I don't get it.

Anyway, it isn't just him.

They keep getting stolen

Anyone in tri state area. I had Chuck come to my house to install. Very professional and would highly recommend. They are based out of NJ

I have my Ravelco install scheduled for 2/28 and was curious about something. I believe they will need to disconnect the battery for that. When the battery is disconnected, do you lose all of yor settings for everything? Meaning all the personal settings you have set in Uconnect, do you have to go back and redo everything? Any input would be appreciated!

I don’t recall losing my settings right after the install. But I’ve lost track of how often I lose my settings because Uconnect5 is a piece of shit and keeps resetting. So maybe it did happen after the install.

I didn’t lose any saved settings after my install

Thank you, I am hoping I get the one that is issue free! Yea right! LOL

Had some trouble getting Sirius radio to show back up but after doing a reset on settings menu it came back and no settings were lost for anything.

I do not know if they disconnected battery but I can tell you I did not lose any settings. I have a 2022 so it’s Uconnect 5

I just found in the uconnect menus that I can disable passive entry. Shouldn't this stop the thieves from duplicating the keys wirelessly? I assume they can still add a key, but they would have to break a window (or pick the door lock).

Does anyone have the direct contact for the Southeast Florida Revelco installer? I reached in through the website about a week ago but have not heard anything back. A name and phone number that I can text would be great!

FYI - he's Southeast, but not "Southeast Florida". And I would advise removing his cell number from your post - the whole dang internet doesn't need to see that.

I didn't lose my personal settings but I wasn't able to see some of my apps and I wasn't able to change into any modes (sports, snow, custom, auto, mud, etc...). All I had to do was reset by holding down the volume button for I believe 5 seconds and everything came back to normal.

Got my Ravelco installed. Stephen Byrnes is the Austin/San Antonio installer. He's been installing for 8+ years. Here is the site for the Austin area.

I watched him for about an hour of the install - he is very meticulous! Everything twisted, soldered, etc. and wrapped with heat shrink and taped back up professionally. He even saved the factory tape and reused it - everything looked factory and put back in the same place as it was. It would be very difficult to undo his work...unless you are him. :D

He worked a solid 2.5 hours and you cannot tell anything was done (save for the plug). He told me he has been booked solidly for quite some time. He gave me a couple of nice detachable key chains as well. I recommend those in the Austin/San Antonio give him a shout - it may take a bit for a response, but he'll get back to you! @esm he mentioned it has been tough lately to keep up. Try him again.

I also got a DS4 Viper system installed. Works with the factory fob, gives a chirp when armed, disarmed - has a nice blue LED that pulses with the system is armed. When it goes off (shock or tilt) it is quite loud. Plug and play, no cutting. Lifetime warranty.

Last, I placed a Optimus 3.0 on the truck. Slick unit - very solid. The app works well too. Battery is said to last a month. USB charges. I put it in the corner of the bed for now just to see how it worked. Nice!

Let me know if you have any questions!
