RAVELCO THREAD

^^ and a significant percentage of the installs are OCONUS..

Only Ravelco provides additional caps and the code, drivers license, and copy of original purchase/install receipt are required to order one, so the reality is that a thief is not going to have ...any... caps...

Fair and reasonable analysis of all the possibilities from various posters. Even if any of us knew for absolute certain what their methodology was, we wouldn’t want to post it just to help keep the nefarious types guessing. Worst case it is 10,000 unique combinations, which speaking just for myself, is still enough that I am going to get one. Hopefully it is more along the lines of 100,000+ as they claim.

Here is what I find funny. There is a 1:1000 to 1:2000 chance that nutting in your girlfriend or wife, on birth control, that you'll get her pregnant but we all still do it. So even at 1: 10000 you will never run into another person with the same pin combination.

I want a security system for my truck that has a breach probability similar to a dude, who was born a woman impregnating his wife who was born a man

California and Arizona Ravelco answered me:
"We've sold over 5,000,000 units. Clearly there are not that many combinations for the number of pins, so there are duplicates, but not enough that someone will have the plug that matches your friend's vehicle. "
All Ravelco have 4 number codes..no letters

of course no thief will carry 10000 plugs ( not 9999) but there are duplicates outthere...about 500 of each combination

…and we’re taking a bad nuttin!

I see another member had his truck stolen this week along with a 2nd TRX and Trackhawk at DFW airport. Posted in this Talk forum. Very unfortunate...

Install the Ravelco and stop worrying about a thief walking around with 10,000 bootleg caps in his pocket. Some of you seem so worried you might as well pull out the jack and take a wheel/tire with you, every time you park it. :ROFLMAO:

What prevents a thief from just bypassing the plug? I’m not sure how this is 100% theft proof. If it can be installed I would think it could be bypassed.

It can but they need a lot of time. Theres one for sale on offer up. Use it as education tool. That listing is 1 year old, probably sold, but it has good pic to understand how it works. Also, there's one "sold" on Ebay. The seller had no idea what was selling but again look at pics to understand how it works. If a thief has as many hours as the installer to work on the wiring the car will get stolen. But they don't and this makes the device very good deterrent. Is this the only way . No. But it's a proven way to secure your car.

The back of my mind keeps asking - what happens if a thief just cuts off the plug and gets to the five wires that come out of it? Suddenly the list of combinations gets a lot shorter.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose? If I am a thief, all I need to do is get a cap that fits all?.
There are 16 pins involved, so just a rough calculation, there are 65,536 possible combinations with the pins.

“But all thieves have flatbed trucks! Waaaaa!” 🙄😳😂😎

Apparently hasn't been done in 40 years. The back is secured in a metal braid or box of some sort. Also, all wires are the same color. So, they'd need to spend quite awhile figuring it out. Hours.

First wrong attempt at the combination of wires that need to be joined and/or grounded blows fuses
