Mopar Extended Warranty

Doesnt the TRX already come with a 7 yr 70k powertrain warranty? So engine, trans, anything epa related is covered?
5yr/60k standard. Best reason to buy a bumper to bumper for electronics after 3/36 or powertrain beyond 60k miles. This is obviously where things can get expensive when considering buying. Another depends on how long you plan to keep the beast. Note that you can always get the residual value back on any extended warranty if you sell it sooner before the warranty runs out.

Haha yeah, that’s why I said $200 over cost. Everyone understands profit. They have jobs. We have jobs. But i just don’t like when people say hey this is $100 over and it’s not.
I have a 1500 Limited 3.0 ecodiesel fully loaded coming in a few weeks and will need an extended warranty to cover it 100%
I also have a TRX due early April, just hit D1 with it. I'm not sure how long say 5 years 70,000 or what do you suggest? LET ME KNOW what you think is best. Thanks, Ron ([email protected])

Who would I contact to get my residual warranty back?

a little confused here.. so does Mopar offer an extended warranty or does Ram? feel like thats a dumb question...

my truck will be driven around 10k a year.. which should i get?

Guys. I sell these for a living. Every dealer uses them as a source of income. We currently have a $1700 profit built into our warranties. That being said the price-points are still justifiable by doing some basic math. 5-8 years and 70-125k in coverage should be no more than $4000 for these trucks. Ideally, closer to $3k. If you keep a truck, not even a TRX for 6 years and drive 100k you will spend $3-4k on it. These warranties cover wheel bearings, ball joints, struts. On those alone you will spend $1000-$1300 over the ownership cycle. Throw in an A/C condenser for example and few odds and ends and you are at $4k no problem. Then add in just 1 scary repair in the 6 years and it has more than paid itself. The peace of mind alone is worth it. Get rid of the car early and cash out the pro rated portion.

Like any insurance. Better to have and not need, than need and not have…

which one do you recommend for the TRX?

Go to your local dealer or where you will be having the car serviced mostly. Get the best Exclusionary coverage option they have with $0 deductible (or lowest option) at the term and mileage that best suit your ownership plan and driving habits.

More coverage in terms of length is always better. The unused portion can always be refunded. The worst would be to buy 5 years of coverage, end up keeping the truck 6 or 7 years and spend a year or 2 with no coverage, worrying about everything. Where for another $350 bucks or something you could have gotten the 7 year plan and been gravy.

Most plans are transferrable too, so you could put 8 years of coverage on it. Then sell the truck in 3 years to someone with ***5 years of comprehensive coverage*** left and ask $3-$4k more for the truck. (This is what i do)

i'm buying the vehicle out of state, it cant be purchased from them?

is there only one brand warranty or more than 1? i dont want to waste my money on a warranty, and then take it in for something down the line and get the "it's not covered" bull shit. So which is the most comprehensive?

No, you can definitely get it from them. Just make sure it is Exclusionary Coverage. You want as few exclusions as possible. You pretty much want to be on the hook for consumables and things built/designed with a life expectancy (battery, pads, rotors, wiperblades, etc)

There are many providers of extended coverage. Kind of a crap shoot. Thats why the fine print is so important.

Below is an example of the exclusions list from the coverage we offer. If the plan you can get has an exclusions list like this, you will be golden

Mopar is the factory extended warranty for all Chrysler/ Dodge/ Jeep/ Ram vehicles. You can buy a Mopar warranty from any CDJR dealer. You can also buy it online from Ziegler (another dealer) at a discount over most other dealers.

thanks guys.

think i'll pricre out the mopar one tommorow as truck should be arriving soon. i'm assuming if i get from my ordering dealer, when i take it to these moronic dealers down here in south florida to fix i shouldn't have an issue?

You should not have any issues with Mopar coverage at a CDJR store.

I plan on keeping mine for 6-7 years and at least 120k miles. I’ve never needed any extended warranty as my last few rams have all been bullet proof. I’m afraid of the possible repairs on this truck and really want an extended warranty. However, 5-6k is a lot of money. May be better off rolling the dice.

2800-3300 is reasonable for a warranty for 6 years on this truck. Call your local dealer and see if they will wheel and deal

Totally agree. I would do that no problem. Seems like prices sky rocketed on these now though. I will check once I know when my truck will be here.

I hate when dealers try to sell third party warranties but claim they are factory. I ran into a problem with a ford that I bought and its extended warranty was a third party that no one would deal with and the nearest dealer that was on the warranty companies list was hours and hours and hours away.

So my dealer quoted me a third party warranty (ASC) which kinda surprised me and made me a little Leary. He said that it’s cheaper and typically covers more that the Mopar Max Care. Prices he quoted were Mopar 5 yr/125000 for $6k and ASC 5yr/120000 for $4K. Should I be concerned? Thoughts? Has anyone used ASC? Seemed a little shady to me.

Whichever one they’re pushing, they’ll likely make the most money off of selling. I’d print out both and compare. Also shop around on the Mopar warranty you can beat that price buying it from another CDJR dealer (Ziegler)

So, I took delivery in Jan this year and purchased an extended warranty through the dealership w/ gap. Im pretty positive I can cancel the warranty purchased from the dealer, but the question lies if I can still purchase one here ( meaning the folks who say they could sell for little over invoice) ? I definitely overpaid. HELP @OkieTRX80 ! Lol
