Mopar Extended Warranty

After just going through this process I wanted to post this for context so I can help others out.

I just picked up my 2022 TRX yesterday. I opted in for the Mopar 8 year 125k mile warranty. I got it at cost and not dealer price. Interestingly, I was able to save an additional $1,200 by removing the door hinge/ tail gate hinge protection from the extended warranty.

Ok so I’m about to contact the dealer because I feel like I was lied to.

The 8 year 125K max care was $6600 at cost. When I was going over all of this with finance they showed me the screen they look Att which showed at cost and dealer cost.

Finance told me they could remove some things to make it cheaper by $1200. Then I looked up what he did. They gave me the care plus plan for $1200 cheaper than the max care which means he didn’t give it to me at cost. The at cost price for care plus on 8 years 125k is $4,400. They have it to me for $5,400.

So now I’m going to call and have them change that and to call the bank and tell them they made a mistake since I was lied to.

Last night I did some research to compare the max care vs the care plus plans. There’s A LOT not covered in care plus.

Here’s the comparison between the two:

Max Care VS Care Plus Comparison

Review this and make sure when you buy your plan finance isn’t lying to you. My dealer is going to hear from me today.

So I just contacted the sales manager over at Koons, the online build order I placed through these forums 6 months ago, and he promised that he was going to correct the issue by placing the Max Care back onto the loan. Finance will reach out to me in the next 30 mins.

At-cost for the 8yr 125k mile would be $6,600 for the Max Care which is only $18 more per month over the Care Plus during a 5 year term. For $18 more per month and peace-of-mind I'll spend the extra knowing that everything that's listed in the comparison link I posted above is covered. This is a TRUE bumper to bumper protection.

However, since the loan was already processed I have to come out-of-pocket $1,100 to cover the remaining amount due to have the 8 year 125k mile warranty. I'm still pissed I have to come out-of-pocket when this should be redone to bake it into the loan.

I'd rather pay the $1,100 now than pay $1,100+ in the future on something that breaks. Any vehicle I've ever had that started to have issues was exactly the point when I went over 100K miles. There's a reason the price is steeper on these plans when you exceed the 100k mile limit.

When speaking to your dealer let them know that you are aware of dealer prices and at-cost prices for the Mopar protection plans. Ask nicely if they can give you the at-cost price since you are interested or else you'll go buy it on your own. If they are a good dealer then they will give you at-cost.

TO make sure they aren't lying to you get your free quick quote from Zeigler. They always have the true prices for these plans.

Thanks again for this forum which made review all of the information that was baked into my loan. And forced me to compare the Max Care vs the Care Plus plan. Otherwise, I could have screwed myself in the future.

Without paying OOP $1100 I think I’ll opt into the Max Care Plus Warranty for 8yr 100k miles at $5,500 which is at-cost. The dealership said they would just switch over the warranty to Max Care Plus and that would be it. I could always upgrade in the future if I want to add the additional 25k miles to the warranty.

To all of those seeking, if your dealer is good to you then they will value the relationship over making money on the warranty. Otherwise, get a refund and go through Ziegler (link posted above). Good thing is Ziegler gives $375 additional off if you pay in full or you can pay monthly on it over a 12 month period with putting as little as 10% down. No bank loans or anything, just a committed monthly payment until paid in full.

has anyone acquired the mopar extended warranty a year after purchasing?

No, but I was receiving emails from Mopar trying to sell me an extended warranty 2 years after I bought my RE. I think I am still getting those GD emails!

The same. It's not Zeigler's warranty... it's Mopar's warranty. Zeigler is just another Mopar dealer. They're selling you the EXACT same product as your dealer wants to sell you. The difference is, Zeigler has decided to mark up the warranty by $100, and sell them in volume - whereas your dealer is trying to make $1,000 profit on you.

What mileage is that 7yr/200ded $4500 price from your dealer? Dealer costs are as follows:

WMT760N $1905
WMT775N $2640
WMT785N $3210
WMT7100N $4230
WMT7125N $5205

Add $100 to any of the above, and that's what Zeigler will charge (if you pay in full up front - financing it negates your $365 discount). The mileage is in the plan code (60K, 75K, 85K, 100K, or 125K). All of the above are Maxcare 7yr plans w/ $200 deductibles.

If your dealer is offering the 100K plan for $4500, that's not too bad... but if it's anything less, they're trying to use you to pay their kids' tuition bills.

Don't forget to factor in sales taxes. Zeigler is in Michigan. They won't collect sales tax. Your local dealer will.

So just ran 2 scenarios using Ziegler website. Ran a ‘22 will 400 miles and a ‘21 with 11,000 miles. 6 and 7 year plans were the exact same price. So - I’m going to wait a few months if not years, to see if this thing is a lemon while under original 36k factory warranty. I realize the price could increase but doesn’t seem like there’s any reason to rush

Price is broken out in mileage. After 12k it goes up

This right here. I guess I'm trying to figure out the benefit of purchasing right away or just waiting because you are double covered during the 3yr/36k. it would be wasting money on an 8 year plan while under the 3year manufacture warranty leaving you with only 5 years left.
LOL Does anyone know if Costco offers extended warranties?

Reasoning would be it’s cheaper with the less miles you have.

Aftermarket warranties are shit, wouldn’t go that route

On another note, since I did not wait my plan is 8yrs 100k miles for $1650. I got my plan at the time of purchase exactly a year ago for $100 above cost. Since then the cost of the plans have increased. Some folks did not jump on some of the deals that were being passed around on this forum and they ended up paying thousands more for the same plan.

It doesn't matter if you buy an 8/100K plan at 0miles/0 months, or at 11,999 miles/11.9 months - it costs the same, and it covers you to 100,000 miles or 96 months from the vehicle in-service date. You won't extend your coverage time by buying later. The only thing you're doing is deferring payment for those 11 months, with the ever-present threat of price increases.

Now, if you purchase after 12K/12 months, there's an additional charge. And the warranty STILL only covers to 8 years after the vehicle in-service date. It's not as if you buy an 8yr/100K plan in 2025 for your 2022 truck, you get coverage out to 2033... you get coverage out to 2030, whether you bought the plan in 2022, 2023, or 2025.

Paid $4200 for 5 year 100k miles through the dealer. I could've saved a few hundred going through Zeigler but the dealer's been excellent with my purchase so I don't mind paying the extra to give them the business.

. . .hey folks, slow man on the draw here - can someone please confirm Ziegler's website and if the discount code is still "payinfull"? Mucho gracias.

Thanks. . .this is what their website is showing at this time - did their prices go up again?

Zeigler is a CDJR dealership that sells warranties on volume, so they only make a small profit per each contract sold vs our local dealers that want to make between $500 and $2,000 per contract sold, on a smaller volume sold.

has anyone acquired the mopar extended warranty a year after purchasing?

Yes, from Zeigler...there is a discount code, I think it is PAYINFULL

This additional warranty is on top of your existing warranty. If you purchase an 8-year warranty, it is valid from the date the truck was sold/registered for the following 8 years (if you bought today, March 28, 2022, this 8-year warranty would expire on March 27, 2030).

You can wait a year, but the terms would still be the same and you risk price increases, as I doubt the price will decline for these warranties.

On another note, since I did not wait my plan is 8yrs 100k miles for $1650. I got my plan at the time of purchase exactly a year ago for $100 above cost. Which plan did you get for $1,650 - 8-year 100k mile? MaxCare, AddedCare or Powertrain? The current rates for those three plans, after the Zeigler discount, are $5,725, $3,355 and $2,665, respectively. Crazy that these plan after jumped that much since your purchase.

. . .hey folks, slow man on the draw here - can someone please confirm Ziegler's website and if the discount code is still "payinfull"? Mucho gracias.

It is. Worked for me when I placed my order - all capital letters worked for me when I did - do not know if it is case sensitive or not.

Not all states charge sales tax on the extended warranty. I'm 99% sure that sales tax is not applied in Nevada on extended warranty. So keep that in mind when quoting the Ziegler price and your buying in Nevada
