AlfaOBD Tips and Tricks

What diagnostics?

I've used it for 2+ years and haven't had any issues with the changes I've done, tire size, tailgate ajar, power side step interface, amber DRL's, fog light dropout. I don't plan on doing any other changes.
Changing BCM settings isn’t the only thing AlfaOBD is capable. It’s also a diagnostic scan tool, the closest to a dealer level tool you’ll get (along with Jscan).
Without knowing what each person intends to do with AlfaOBD, I couldn’t recommend an interface that isn’t fully compatible with the vehicles AlfaOBD is used on.
The BAFX can’t access any of the modules on IHS bus, which include the radio, door modules, hvac module, CVPM, display screen, amplifier, heated seat module, memory seat module, power side step module, and blind spot modules.
If someone has an issue with one of those features, and wants to start diagnosing them by scanning the module for faults, they find out that they can’t connect to them if they have the BAFX.
The main one for the BAFX owners is when they add the surround view camera system, make anll the BCM changes just fine, but come time to run the camera calibrations, they can’t connect to the CVPM.

Thanks for the explanation. I think I'll upgrade, just in case I need access to those modules. Which OBDII scanner do you recommend?

VLinker MC. Doesn’t even have to be the plus version (unless you want to use it with an iOS app also). It’s the cheapest fully capable one for ram trucks, and does everything the MX+ can.

Using Alpha obd can we turn off the auto ebrake engagement when the driver door is open and in reverse/gear? When I need to back up/pull forward just a hair when hooking up my trailer I like to leave the door open. If so can somebody post the instructions/sequence to do so.
Thanks

No, AlfaOBD can’t shut this off.
Leaving a seatbelt extender plugged in will keep auto park from happening.
Also, not sure if the DT Ram behaves the same, but on the HD Rams, if you allow auto park to engage once, then shift back into gear and try again, it will be disabled for the rest of the engine on cycle. So, right when you start the truck, and before hooking up to the trailer, try making it auto park right off the bat one time to get it out of the way.

Awesome, thank you!

Would it be possible to disable the signature lighting with afla OBD?

is there a tutorial on this? I can't get it all to work. I'm not sure where to put the ECRI item, trying to get the MC to link with my PC. I mean I'm not a computer idiot, but for some reason, these things all challenge me.

Hi all
Im going to use AlfaOBD and cannot find some step by step guide for our cars, if someone have info or link or guide pls show me the from where to start,

I'm interesting coding, or i have to go for HPTune and make unlock of PCM?
I would love this as well. I can't even get it to connect currently. I really don't get it. I'm currently trying to get Blue Stacks to even see it, so I can update the MC, then hopefully connect...???

I can't help you connect your PC to the OBD2 link, but the SGW bypass goes here. Near the hood release cable, to the right of the canbus.

FYI the older OBDLink MX worked fine. Used Tazer as SGW bypass and now I have Amber DRL and a tailgate ajar warning.

Thanks all!

So I tried the Amber DRL changes today. I understand the amber drops out when the headlights are on, but the amber also drops when the headlights are off, but set to Auto. Is that normal behavior, or did I miss something?

I wanted to post something to put together some tips, tricks and programming that can be done using this tool.

For example, amber DRL's:

Body Computer
Select the Body Computer for your year
Select procedure to start: Car configuration change
Select option:
1) ECUConfig 3: DRL Customer Setting Option Present; Select value: Yes
2) CBC Features: DRL Configuration; Select value: Optional DRL
3) CBC Features: DRL Lamp Location; Select value: Turn Signal
4) CBC Features: DRL Dropout Enabled; Select value: Yes
5) CBC Features: LED Dedicated DRL Present; Select value: No
6) Cust.Set.Menu 1: Daytime running lights CSM Present; Select value: Yes
7) Customer Program Features: Daytime Running Lamps ; Select value: Enabled

Do a 30 second key off when changing values.

To get the tools needed are the OBD cable adapter ($17), the OBD2 Link MX+ ($140), and the AlfaOBD app ($49).

If you have any information regarding AlfaOBD and its uses, please share with everyone. Thanks!
I tried the OBD Vlinker MC on my 22 but for what ever reason it would fail to make the change. It said something about the reader failed to do something and to contact the manufacturer. Im returning it and going to try. The OBD Link MX + as you suggested.
Thanks for the write up its extremely helpful.
