I wanted to post something to put together some tips, tricks and programming that can be done using this tool.

For example, amber DRL's:

Body Computer
Select the Body Computer for your year
Select procedure to start: Car configuration change
Select option:
1) ECUConfig 3: DRL Customer Setting Option Present; Select value: Yes
2) CBC Features: DRL Configuration; Select value: Optional DRL
3) CBC Features: DRL Lamp Location; Select value: Turn Signal
4) CBC Features: DRL Dropout Enabled; Select value: Yes
5) CBC Features: LED Dedicated DRL Present; Select value: No
6) Cust.Set.Menu 1: Daytime running lights CSM Present; Select value: Yes
7) Customer Program Features: Daytime Running Lamps ; Select value: Enabled

Do a 30 second key off when changing values.

To get the tools needed are the OBD cable adapter ($17), the OBD2 Link MX+ ($140), and the AlfaOBD app ($49).

If you have any information regarding AlfaOBD and its uses, please share with everyone. Thanks!

Update 9/5/23

This has also been confirmed to work on the 2023s. Grab these two items and AlfaOBD. (Thanks IdahoKTM )

Super helpful, thank you. I've used Alfa on previous Rams and its a great tool, even has a procedure to bleed brakes. In the above config, are the hood scoop lights and other clearance lights also always on? Thank you.

For the average user, save $80 and get the OBDLink EX. It uses USB connection instead of wireless.

No, this will not turn an "always on" for the parking lights (hood scoop and clearance lights).

Also, when headlights are on, the lights are in normal operation (no amber DRL's).

If you want to save money, just buy the vLinker MC+ that @Jimmy07 recommends.
As an even cheaper option, if the only device you’ll ever use it for is android or windows (which AlfaOBD is only compatible with anyway), you can use the vLinker MC. It’s fully capable with AlfaOBD like the OBDLink MX+ is.
If you need to also use the tool with various scan apps on iPhone that aren’t available on the other platforms, then you would want the vLinker MC+.

The main tip/trick that should be done before you do ANYTHING else with AlfaOBD is read the system ID of the body computer so it is saved, and create a backup file of the body computer.
These are two different things:
The system ID read is the list of all your current BCM settings that you can use for comparison purposes.
The create backup file is in the same list as car configuration change, and is just a file with a bunch of lines of numbers and letters (raw data). This file can be used as a restore point, so when you start changing settings back and forth that you have no idea what they do, and find out you completely bastardized the BCM configuration, you can quickly and automatically get everything reset the way it was.

Anyone kow why this setup would not work on 23? I managed to add tailgate ajar and power side steps but no amber drl.

He doesn’t have the 23 powernet ECU in the list yet. If there is a setting that doesn’t work for you, turn on debug recording for when you go to make that change, and send the debug log to the developer. He will get you an apk version link to use in the meantime until he adds it in an update.

And why is led dedicated drl present set to no if originally was set to yes ? What does it change ?

Has anyone had issues trying to buy a license for windows? I tried to purchase one from the Alfaodb app and when it gets to payment, the PayPal login seems to hang. When I click on the link to login to PayPal if the page doesn’t load, I get a script error followed by a page saying I’m using an older version of my browser and to update it to use PayPal. I have the latest version of Chrome but whatever Alfaodb is trying to use as the browser doesn’t seem to be what my default browser settings are. Has anybody had this issue and what was the workaround? I have also contacted support but have not heard back yet. Just wanted to see if someone here has a solution sooner so I can try to work on the truck before it gets dark.

Thanks.

Anyone played with alarm system in alfa? I was trying to activate hood ajar alarm but doesnt give any sound when opened. Same i dont know if car has tilt and ultrasonic sensor installed but turned them on anyway. Maybe someone already figured that out ?
