AlfaOBD Tips and Tricks

Here’s a picture from the Tazer DT instruction manual. Hopefully it helps you visualize the situation.

Has anyone used alfaobd to change any throttle control settings? Saw that discussion on another ram forum where some were indicating similar to a banks pedal unit. Was only two settings with some saying a noticeable difference and others saying not so much. Full disclosure - I have not even looked to see if these settings are on our trucks. Here are the settings:

Body Control Module -> Diagnostics -> Car Configuration Change
ECUConfig14 /Acceleration Threshold: Filter Off
ECUConfig14 /Acceleration Factor: Filter Off

Thoughts?
Chris

Ecuconfig 14 settings pertain to the occupant restraint control module, and those two settings refer to the accelerometer inside it, so you don’t want to be messing with those settings.
Despite whatever placebo effects others may claim by changing them, there’s no way those settings can possibly effect throttle sensitivity.

Exactly why I posted here. Thanks!

Theres some write ups and YouTube vids floating around but the crux of it is as follows: Open app and connect to your Bluetooth reader. Job #1 is to save your system ID, AND create a backup of your vehicle configuration BEFORE making any changes. That’s your fall back if you change something you aren’t supposed to.

Once that’s done, select and connect to the body control module for your model year. Then select “car configuration change” and search for “step”. These settings will appear in the search result list and need to be set as follows:

Cust.Set. Menu 2: Automatic Side Step CSM
Present: Yes

Cust.Set.Menu 3: Power Side Step Enable/ Disable CSM Present: Yes

Cabin Net: PSSM Power Side Step Module: Enabled

It’ll take several power cycles for Ucconnect step button to appear.
I made these changes early today. I have had I'm guessing 7-10 power cycles, but still nothing in Uconnect. I double checked my settings too. Is this normal, or is this a 2024 thing; I used 2023?

Reboot the radio twice in a row by pressing and holding the power button on the right radio knob for 15 seconds, until it restarts.

WINNER! Man I love this forum...and Jimmy07, you're not so bad yourself! :cool:THANKS!🇺🇸

I have a question regarding Amber DRLs. Is there a setting in Alpha where they can be dimmed, so they are not quite so bright?
Thanks in advance!🇺🇲

Was going to bump this thread instead of creating a new thread just had some quick questions to see if anybody could answer. I wanted to do the following(some again because I've done this once awhile back on another TRX) and didn't know if some stuff had been updated.

1) DRLs amber
2) DRLs and hood lights always on(I believe this is the jumper fuse wire not AlfaOBD)
3) Double honk turned on when leaving the truck running w/ the key
4) Front camera cutting on when parking sensors activate or detect something

I'd also like to avoid the mess I dealt last time and plugs getting stuck. I've linked the two things I think I need below.

OBDLink MX+

Security Bypass Cable

That cable is the one I used last time that got stuck and I had to cut it off. Didn't know if I just got a bad one or if there was a better unit available.

amber DRL’s, I remember jimmy07 saying that there is a setting either added or not needed from what was originally posted because if you do it that way it actually keeps the white on while also having the amber on and that just wears out the board for white.

DRLs and hood lights always on is a jumper unless you want to use the tazer.

You can’t turn double honk off with Alfa that I have seen. Maybe tazer will do that

Pretty sure @OnTheReel knows the settings to turn front camera on with parking sensors.

I have a different SWG bypass and I can tell you that the bigger plug is always a bitch to get out. @IdahoKTM said his are hard to get out also and that if you push in on the plug first it seems to help get them to release.

Tazer might be option then cause Peen if I go thru what I did back in March ya'll will get pics of my damn funeral :ROFLMAO:
I've just heard nothing but bad things and bugs from Tazer even though I just wanna use a few options and let it be.

tazer plugs into the SGW also 🤣.
For the two beeps i think if you don’t close the door it doesn’t honk

I have a 22, and run the tazer for exactly the options you want. I do not marry it at all, and knock on wood, have not had any issues. Hope this helps.

My Tazer works when it wants to as far as the 3 honks thing. Not sure what software version I’m on and don’t really care to mess with it.

For the parksense camera activation I don’t believe AlfaOBD has it as a setting you can just change. Unless they have updated it very recently you’d have to manually alter the backup file to get it to work. Tazer can also do it but it was buggy for me and I’m glad I got that to work in a more “factory” manner.

The pic shown is that a modification used by Tazer?

No, AlfaOBD. The Tazer won’t give you that menu option, it’s just a live function on that device. I can talk ya through doing it on AlfaOBD if that’s the route you go. But as I said, it needs to be done through the back door so to speak.

Okay I can do that I think. I'll reach out when I get it ready. I'm more worried about getting the plugs out of the SGW bypass :ROFLMAO:
