Connect to the BCM. Click the car with the hood open (active diagnostic). Scroll down to select “car configuration change”. From there you have a search box you can type each setting into and find these quickly. Make the change listed and click “start”. Then just repeat for each one. Model year is the first option so it’s a good one to start with.

Really appreciate that, thank you

@skuppy069 I’m interested in one of your can bus devices. I’ve recently done the swap for the digital cluster. I have a 2020. I recently did the drvm and shoved a used 23 bcm under the seat. Do you or can make a can device that can put out the correct lin bus signal and retain the auto dimming exterior mirrors?

Linbus is tricky .
Roman over in the ram forum would be best for Linbus questions as he has a module that he made for the DRVM.

As far as Canbus goes one might be able to send full dimming to the door module of headlights are on etc but then one would also need to turn dimming off in reverse etc to make it safe when backing up .
I would have to think about it but I don’t think it would be a smooth approach .

I will try something on my truck over the next week and see how it behaves but reach out to Roman 217 for sure as he is really good with this stuff .

Cheers

Great to see it. Of course it figures since I got impatient and sold my 14.4” screen awhile back. When it came down to it 2k in my pocket was better than a screen I couldn’t use for anything. 😂

Do you think the trailer brake, steering and aux switches could be made to work too since all of those are specific to that screen?
Do you think your old switch bank would fit on the screen bezel?
Did you try trailer brake switch to see if the cluster showed anything with squeezing etc .

I never got around to check the first time, but I found a decent deal and rebought another one of these 14.4 setups a few days ago. I was gonna ping you when I get it in hand and maybe we can come up with something. I was prepared to blank off the trailer brake and steer knobs because I don’t use them anyway. But we’ll see.

Brake Controller shows just fine on the cluster.

Surprisingly the 2025 TB switch works totally fine plug and play.

Don’t have a steering knob to try. But the aux switch bank did nothing. Will have to check pinout when I get a TechAuthority sub again because I didn’t save those pages.

Issue of course with these switches even if they work is getting the softkeys to show. I’m sure moving the old switch bank over is an option too however the 12” one is narrower and taller than the one on the 14.5, so I’d have to machine some kind of bezel or it’ll look like shit.

Yeah I want to try and fab the old switch In so I can leave this screen in my truck and then keep trying things versus tearing the truck apart every time to test new code .

My tow haul and traction controls are on there as well and would be one less thing I would have to figure out
Also do you think the new screen is better resolution than the current screens we have ?

Gonna mess with it this weekend. If I can get at least as far as you and have the screen working I will leave it in and do the logging/ testing. I don’t really need any of the switchgear at the bottom to function in order to use the truck.

I don’t think you will get the screen on as I’m sending data to fire it up Currently but let’s see how you make out as I’m also In a 2018 DS

Yeah, I know it won’t fire up without some help. I do have the canbus board from Copperhill, maybe you can give me a head start on what messages it needs. I would imagine they would be the same at least for that stage.

I performed the UC5 upgrade on my 2021 limited. I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is trying this modification and runs into some issues.

A list of current modifications that had been previously installed that led to some issues and did not realize it at the time. I had to de mod the truck in order to get some functions to show up in ALFA OBD II.

Installed - Pulsar Tuner
Installed - TAZAR DT.

Replaced:

Radio Module Replaced with 2023
Replaced Screen New Screen 2024
Replaced EVIC to 2023
Replaced Camera Module to 2024
Reinstalled back - EVIC to 2021.

Typical removal and installation as per the thread instructions. no big showstoppers or hang ups. Just take your time and proceed with caution. It may seem scary when pulling trim pieces but trust they will release when pulled. some pry tools are nice to have just to relieve some stress points.

Programed using ALFA to change date to 2023 on Radio system.
Calibrated the Surround View.

Because the Pulsar Tuner was installed, ALFA could not read the ECU data properly, which prevented me from calibrating the sound view camera. all cameras accept the from camera would not perform the full test. So, if you have Pulsar Tuner installed, remove it first. Once the camera is calibrated reinstalled.

I also unmarried the TAZAR DT to ensure all factory settings could be saved using ALFA OBD II. Once the modification was completed, I reinstalled both the Pulsar and the TAZAR.

During this modification I also swapped out the Instrument cluster to a 2023 model. I was happy with everything, but came to realize without the BCM or the Bypass cable installed, I was not going to see any maps on the display. I had driven about 500 miles with the digital display and though I liked the look, I still missed the analog gauges. Understanding that I can choose an analog style in the digital display, it just did not look quite the same. At the time I was going to place the by pass harness into the system to display the maps on the digital display I was in need to bring the truck in for warranty work. Not wanting to give the dealer any reasons to void the warranty I had to swap back to the analog and perform the mileage correction.

Please note when doing the instrument cluster swap, change the instruments to read kilometers and record the values for the future updates. Updating the milage on the analog screen through ALFA OBD II requires the changes to be made in kilos. Recommend recording all distances in kilos and adjust using kilos. I was able to get within 1/10th of a milage.

Once I had reinstalled the analog gauge cluster, I noticed that when using Apple Car Play and Apple Maps, the turn-by-turn directions are now being displayed in the EVIC center screen, as well as on the HUD. Unlike the UC 4 system I never seen Apple Car Play / Apple MAPS show up in the EVIC. I tried WAZE and Google Maps, but they did not show up. Note as well when using Apple Maps and WAZE at the same time, the Turn by Turn did not show up in the EVIC.

Because this feature is working, I am not sure I want to go back and install the digital display, well not until they can figure out how to resolve the Milage correction.

The only issue I am having is that when reinstalling the TAZAR DT on the latest Firm Wear (18.26) I am now getting a "Trailer Steering Unavailable" message appear on the EVIC. When I unmarry the TAZAR the message does not show up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else have an issue where the oil life percentage isn’t changing? I have done close to 1,000 miles since installing the digital cluster and it has been the same.
