Looks like there ad now says only 23/24 trucks will show maps.

Yeah it all worked before. There isn’t any warning lights or nothing and the setting is on. It’s a 21 TRX

this was something I was worried about with mine. When you change the year of the bcm with AlfaOBD a message pops up in the cluster saying about that being disabled. I had noticed that I never got that warning to brake but adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist were working so I figured it was still working. I even pushed it some when a vehicle was making a right hand turn in front of me. That's a situation that triggers the beeping and telling you to brake (especially if you are accelerating) After I replaced the bcm with a 2023 bcm I did have it happen in an instance where a vehicle was making a right had turn in front of me and thought...."oh ok it was working"

Sooooooo now I'm really wondering if it wasn't working and somehow having a bcm that matches the year that I set it to with AlfoOBD is required for that to still function.

You might loose backup cam and cargo cam but I’m curious .
If it starts working with 21 year then I have an idea for my boards moving forward .
I’m guessing Christian srt can try as he has the issue right now and doesn’t have a 23 bcm installed

I don't know since I don't have a 21 bcm anymore and it is working with my 23 bcm.

If @ChristiannSRT set his back to 2021 I'm guessing it would start working again,

I wanted to add this to the thread in case anyone is in the same boat as me. I have a 2021 1500, already have UC5 and had the new cluster in but without the extra 2023+ features. I plan on using Skuppy’s modules to gain the extra features but I just wanted to see if there is any added benefit to getting the 2023 BCM put in over the modules? TIA

I’m curious as well .
I know Linbus changes sometimes for worse and sometimes for better.
I know on the DJ it’s replace a ton of modules on the truck to put the 23 bcm in but it seems the DT is mostly good from what I can see here

the two negatives of adding the 23 BCM are that you now have the beeping of the horn when getting out with the vehicle running(I figured out that the beeping only happens when you close the drivers door so leave it open and it won’t beep). 2nd negative is getting the rear seat warning in the cluster. I think the purpose of it is to keep you from forgetting that you have a kid back there.

One positive I have seen that @OnTheReel has documented in this thread is that if you have the surround camera system you can get it to automatically turn on the front camera when you are pulling up to an obstruction.

I have a connection with the dealer so putting in the 2023 BCM wouldn’t be an issue for me, I don’t have the surround cameras, though I plan on doing ACC soon after I take mine in for the ABS module recall but it seems like Skuppy’s modules are the way to go here for me. Appreciate it guys.

I can add that feature to my can module if need be as I’m sending it on my 2018 ram with surround view and it works great like you have mentioned .
It’s an awesome feature .

The parksense activated camera is well worth it to me. I can’t believe it didn’t come like that in 2021. The Silverado I traded in for it had it.

As far as removing the new “features”…

Rear seat reminder:

CustSetMenu 3: FOA Type CSO- No

CustSetMenu 3: FOA Presence CSO- No

3 honks:

CustSetMenu 3: Unintended Idle Alert- No

I haven’t gotten around to killing the rear seat reminder yet because I added the menu to disable it in the infotainment at least. Still kind of annoying because it reminds me on the cluster that it’s disabled every time I turn the truck on.

Sorry for the lag! Been really busy. So Today I changed the BCM year to 2021 in Alfa and yes the Emergency Braking Alert works again. My cameras are working fine so I will be leaving my BCM as a 2021 model year.

It’s good info to know that if you do the UC5 upgrade you loose that safety feature. I need to try to trigger it in mine again. I might have had it work while I had the bcm set back to 2021 for my yearly safety inspection(i had to put the original cluster back in so it showed the correct mileage)

If you really want that safety feature I can make a canbus board to send the message just to the radio for the vehicle year .
Might not be worth it for the price but I guess I could add park sense camera activation as well if you don’t have that feature .

Update: So I changed the BCM year in Alfa to 2023 instead of 22 and the Anti Collision alert works now lol
