Just leaving a recap on the alfaobd settings here as a reference, since I get a lot of PMs referencing this thread for the swap with questions on manipulating the backup file:
Editing the raw hex in the backup file is no longer necessary. The relevant settings have since been added to the standard car configuration change list.
These are the settings to change after the full swap:
VehConfig 1: Model Year- 2023

ECUConfig 3: Audio Steering Wheel Switch Configuration- Core Steering Wheel

ECUConfig 3: Unique Core Steering Wheel- Yes

CustSetMenu 3: Album Art In Cluster- Yes

CustSetMenu 3: Audio Steering Wheel Controls on IPC- Yes

CustSetMenu 3: Cluster Size- 12 Inch

CustSetMenu 3: Nav Map In Cluster- Yes

Bonus Feature for those equipped with front park assist and surround view cameras:
CustSetMenu 3: Park Sense Based Camera Activation- Yes

In case you gained rear seat alert reminder with the 2023 BCM swap, these will get rid of all chimes and warnings associated with it:
CustSetMenu 3: FOA Type CSO- No

CustSetMenu 3: FOA Presence CSO- No

In case you gained the “three horn honk” with the 2023 bcm swap:
CustSetMenu 3: Unintended Idle Alert- No

The TRX’s don’t have that problem when doing the digital cluster swap.
It’s something with a missing TCM message on the regular 1500’s.
Yours is one I haven’t seen before though- it looks like you are in drive, but the trans status is still showing “- -“.
Usually it will show “D” when it’s in drive, but
“- -“ when it’s in park, reverse, or neutral.

Do we still need the bypass cable installed for the maps on the cluster?

Updated the main post with that, thanks

Yeah, I believe it’s an issue with the older SGW module, so you either need to leave it bypassed, or install a 2023+ SGW module.
I’m sure @OnTheReel would be willing to step up and try this out. :ROFLMAO: Is swapping in a 23 SGW module something that can be done at home or does it involve the dealer service department?

I’m not sure. I usually completely remove SGW’s and configure them out of the BCM. I’ve never purposely tried installing a new one.

Do you guys see any interest for a can module versus a new bcm ?
The cost will probably be similar is my guess but how much is a new bcm for the DT?
I got maps working on my 18 truck with a can module to send the missing data .

It should be a little cheaper with the CAN module vs the BCM swap, and without the headache of a dealer visit.

don’t remember the cost of the bcm, but the cost of the BCM plus the cost of the install could make a can module a decent amount cheaper.

I don’t keep track of costs with this truck because it’s too depressing. But wanna say I’m into the BCM for at least $400 with install. And it was a pain in the ass too.

Ok thanks for the feedback .
I will work on this over the next few weeks .
Just want to finalize the HD trucks module .

This is similar to what @skuppy069 is talking about, instead of a new BCM (the 2023+ radio module is still required for maps in the cluster):

It integrates with the cluster conversion harness. We’ve been working together for a while on projects because we retrofit all these features into our 4th gen trucks, so this is what he came up with to get the cluster working on my heavy duty ram.

in my mind Not having to do a dealer visit to have something installed in your truck that was not supposed in your truck is a big selling factor. I was very worried about doing the bcm swap. It worked out but there was a cost associated, there was stress associated, and just the time. To pay less to avoid that would be great.
