2023+ digital cluster swap (COMPLETE WRITE UP)

Dang it I’m siting on the edge of doing it I already have all the parts I need I’m just waiting to make sure the mileage can be corrected
At least we are able to correct mileage on the analog cluster. So if you do install the digital and you want or need to revert, you can swap the analog one back in and add the mileage on very easily.

where did you find your digital cluster
still appears to be one for sale in the classifieds section

Based on this post, I am guessing this is not a change made with AlfaOBD?? Probably some code change that's way above my pay grade. o_O
QUESTION: Would that be available on a Level 1 {Versus Level 2] TRX? I have the Tazer DT installed, and it turns ON the Rear View Camera whenever I engage a Turn Signal Stalk, which really improves Safety. Love to be able to that, but unclear if your display is only applicable to Level 2 equipped TRX's. Thanks.

I just listed a 23 digital cluster in the classified section if anyone is I interested in this mod.
I will throw in a plug and play harness in as well to adapt the new speedometer to the pre 23 trucks.
I will edit the classified as well.
Have you still got this?, I am interested.

Has anybody here tried installing a brand new 2023 radio module when doing this swap, or has everyone that’s done it so far been swapping in used 2023 radio modules?

Haven't been able to find a used one. Been looking for a new one. Seen a few on eBay, but hasn't been a priority to swap yet

The radio I have in my truck was used and the one I sent @AmosMoses was used as well.

any updates on changing the mileage on the digital cluster yet? And does anyone have a link or instructions on how to change the mileage on the analog cluster? (im gonna swap my old one back in so i can take it to the dealership for service, but would like to get the mileage to match actual if possible).

with AlfaOBD connect to the cluster instead of the bcm and then look for mileage correction. So you don’t freak out like I did, you have to put the mileage in when correcting as kilometers not miles.. It took few tries to get it right. even then it wasn’t perfect, it was still off 1/10th of a mile

A few weeks ago a company posted on one of the FB groups that they were working on some kind of mileage programmer for the digital swaps (in HDs, but may also work for us). The post got taken down and I can’t remember for the life of me who it was so we will just have to wait and see. In the meantime I would also press JScan about getting this done. They are working on way more new stuff for the 5th gens than AlfaOBD (who I’ve basically given up on). There’s stuff in that app that has been broken for years at this point and I get nowhere with them.

I install them completely new
How are you doing this? I tried and could not get the new one to even light the screen. It connected to Witeck 2 but that was about it. All other modules were reporting lost of communication with the radio.

The reason I ask is, @mac24attack and I both bought brand new 2023 radio modules, both 68598596AC (newest revision), and both built on 3/22/24. Neither of them would fire up the screen, and no other modules on the truck had communication with the radio module.

I hooked them both up on the bench to CDA6, and discovered that the CAN architecture configuration of both of them from the factory were set to Atlantis High, whereas they are supposed to be set to PowerNet I.
Atlantis High is the new CAN architecture for 2025 Ram 1500, and I’m guessing it’s looking to communicate over CAN FD instead of CAN C (powernet I like used on pre-2025 Rams).

I don’t know of any other way to have this changed except CDA6, and I’m stumped on why some 2023 radio modules are built configured this way. If anyone else gets a new radio module that doesn’t fire up the screen, inquire here and don’t return it, because this is probably why.

On another note, the software version that came loaded on these radio modules appears to be a newer 2024MY version:

correct me if i'm wrong but i think for this step, they go to dealership and dealership flash it. this step is not DIY.
The new BCM requires a dealer to link it to the RF hub. A used radio module is plug and play. Sounds like a new radio module may need to go to Jimmy if it doesn’t work out of the box.

The modules I installed have the T27.46 software and are for HD RAM but they also work in 1500 without problems and are dated 12-06-24
