2023+ digital cluster swap (COMPLETE WRITE UP)

The SGW module has the same PN for all years. Personally use a Tazer in my truck instead. I never actually ran this cluster with the stock SGW module but I can try it later and see what it does.
man if the tazer is needed to make this work, that is a big turn off since it seems to cause so many other oddities.

I really haven’t had any problems with the Tazer being unmarried. I basically just use it as a bypass and occasionally to run amber DRLs. Think a lot of people get into shit with it while using the security and it’s other half-baked features.

so sounds like it should have no bearing on the maps working…I hope I’m right with that 🤣

I would be surprised if it does but I’ll check in the morning. My life is run by a 1 year old tyrant and I ran out of time to test it.

Well I’ll be damned. With the Tazer removed and the SGW module reconnected my maps don’t load either. It must be blocking access to the radio or something?

Plug Tazer back in and they work. So for you @p6cl I guess an immediate solution would be to buy a Tazer.

@Jimmy07 is there something else to try?

is it the tazer or just that the sgw needs to be bypassed. my bypass is a heck of a lot cheaper than a tazer. I leave my bypass in most of the time anyway - I only take it out when going to the dealer.

Probably just the bypass. You don’t get any errors with it bypassed all the time? I guess that’s a fine option if so.

I would happily purchase that extra cluster he has. Still haven’t seen any for sale.

wonder where this thread would be if you didn’t have the tazer plugged in when you did the 2023 radio swap. I’m assuming you leave it plugged in for some of it’s live functions?

Yeah, mainly just to toggle the amber DRLs. I know I could do that with AlfaOBD but I like having the option to switch on the fly. It’s also a decent code reader!

Wait so having it bypassed causes no issues? Strange indeed.
wonder why it would cause issues. Look at the tazer it is a SWG bypass in itself, and you have to leave it plugged in to use the live features. I would think it is just a firewall per say to try to prevent user access.

I bought a new module to see if the software is newer to allow access for the Cluster. Probabley will take couple weeks to get in and I will update you all. I bought this says its the newest part out and for up to 2024.

FYI, the service manual says it’ll need to be flashed to the vehicle after install or it won’t work.

that would mean even if there was a different when the dealer flashes it, it would be flashed to a 21 or 22 standard.
I am curious what happens. But between that possibility and the fact that the 2023+ unit has the same exact part number, I have no plans to even try to swap the SGW on my truck. The Tazer does fine for me and the simple bypass should be good for you. Fingers crossed.

If I need to take it to the dealer, I don’t need a cluster map to get there so running the stock SGW is no big deal. I want mileage correction more than anything right now. Maybe those shift lights too lol.
