Trx orders

Can a dealer place an order and you receive a POC with a VON showing SOLD ORDER with your name as the customer if they don’t have an actual allocation available?
This happened with the first dealer I ordered from. He didn’t tell me it wasn’t an immediate allocation until after he ordered. He said it would be mine IF Ram came thru with the allocation but it wouldn’t be until calendar year 2027.

I’m not ready to say that is the case, but I do subscribe to the theory of “trust, but verify”. I don’t take well to being manipulated or lied to.

You guys got off cheap. Mine was 10k non refundable but I had them put stipulations in that it would come refundable if certain things did or did not happen.

Mine told me if Ram didn’t accept it and get me to BG within 48 hours he would give the deposit back. I had a VIN within 48 hours.

As I understand it, yes. @AnthonyRI - can you confirm?
Yes. For example I COULD order 100 TRX today, despite the fact that I do not have any more allocations left for THIS month. All would have VON's immediately, and would say customer name, and sold order. Based on what I am seeing dealership personnel post on FB, I think there are a lot of sellers ordering their entire EXPECTED allocation for the calendar year, instead of what they are actually allocated each month. For Mark Dodge, we're ordering one month at a time, for two reasons:

1. Nothing in life (and RAM) is guaranteed, until it happens - so while they told us our expected total, in other model years/trims that has changed
2. If 100 orders were placed but the allocations were available 20 per month, that would severely INCREASE the odds that your orders get out of sequence even worse than they already are.

All that said, once a vehicle gets into D status there is no more priority/sequencing based on dealership, its all rubber ducks in a big carnival pool after that.

Having an order in BA, BE, BG status etc does not NECESSARILY mean there was no allocation, but having a VON does not mean that an allocation was present.

Great explanation! Thank you.
Can you enlighten us to the significance of the "5N9 Guaranteed Schedules" sales code on the POC? Some seem to think that it indicates order is tied to an existing allocation.

Not so sure about that one, becuase all of my TRX orders in system have it - spanning from BG, D, D1 and ZA (cancelled).
Meanwhile, I checked some durango and jeep orders and they did NOT have the same code, despite being in D, D1, etc.
Also worth noting that the term "schedules" in Stellantis world often does not mean the same as you would apply the term in daily use.

We all think of schedules as a sequence correlated to time... I am scheduled to go to the dentist next monday.
But in some areas, Stellantis uses the term schedules to relate to a specification.. ..reading a blueprint reference that says "12' garage door as scheduled" and then you go look up the detail on the door. Isn't language fun?!

Looking at the data, here's what I find.
771 TRX's built.
  • 90 of them are test/pilot/evaluation/marketing/recreation/unspecified vehicles, and do not carry that sales code.
  • 241 carry the 4EA sales code (sold order)
    • 186 have code 5N9
    • 55 do not
  • 440 carry the 4EX sales code (basically dealer stock)
    • 128 have code 5N9
    • 312 do not
So there does not seem to be a correlation between 5N9 and being an allocated order, because clearly there are many TRX's being built and delivered to dealers that do not carry 5N9.

I just spoke with someone @ Ram and they explained that it is PART OF a very manual process related to allocation, but still don't assume that all 5N9 trucks are totally greenlit, getting a VIN # is still the most reliable status point to know you're good.

What time lines are people seeing from D1 to next phase?

I hit D1 over the weekend also. Estimated ship date of 9/29.
