interesting. I've heard some sprays like the ones for your car interior (armor all/303/etc) can actually cause your rubber to shrink over time which would be horrible for CV boots. I guess 100% silicone might be a decent option though

nah they suffer the same problem unfortunately. Couple people on the forum have reported boot failure even quicker than OEM. Imagine paying $4k and then that...

They supposedly have a lifetime warranty so at least they will repair them is my guess. My friend recommended look for fixed cv axles id they have them for our truck

Yea but dang man the process of removing ur CV and like shipping it back to them every 8-10k miles?! F that!

Just replaced our pass CV with a "GSP" brand axle. It's a bit beefier at the center but maybe a centimeter shorter than the OEM one. Boot material seems good (although the inner boot deformed during install). Hopefully these axles dont suffer the same OEM boot bullshit. So far only street driving and all good. If i lose a hair of articulation, it will be well worth it if i can go > 15k miles before having to replace a CV. Time will tell!

Ok fellas - this COULD be the solution to all of our problems! Shout-out to some FB dude that messaged me a year ago and @Fifty for pointing us in the right direction. These are Empi boots that we just had installed by CV Source Inc. on our OEM CV axle that blew a boot with approx. 10-11k on the clock.

We will NOT be installing this axle until we blow another boot (likely the driver side within the next 3-5k if our history repeats itself) so we wont know whether it's the ultimate solution until then but it looks pretty dang good so stay tuned lol!

Oh and here's the link for the Empi boots we installed. We paid like $60 back in June 2025 so not sure why the price went up so much but i msg'd the seller to see if he could send us a discount code to give everyone. We'll see what he says...

Have you installed any boots yourself? When my diff broke I ripped a boot when it hit the LCA.

No i dont have a boot spreader so i sent the axle off to a CV axle specialist shop that does only CVs for like 39yrs. Total cost was $210 (incl. shipping both ways) + cost of boots (around $60) so all in it was only a little cheaper than a new OEM axle. BUT if it lasts as long as a normal CV should, then the dam thing is worth its weight in gold to me!

Should be. That's the only real problem with the OEM axles is the boot (usually the outer joint) that fails way too prematurely.

So quick update:

The company only used the inner Empi boot and not the outer Empi. They used a a "CVS outer boot" so who knows what brand that is. Trying to get more info on P/N for the outer boot they used since that's arguably the most important info to share. For anyone interested, here's the description of the work order they gave. Interesting observation they had RE non-Mopar markings on a 100% OEM Mopar axle...

Repair Outer boot & replace inner boot w/customer supplied boots on 2022 Ram TRX cv axle. Outer boot split & leaking. Polished rolled edges on inner race & cage of outer joint where they make contact. Outer joint shows signs of heat & friction stress. Could be grease, metallurgy, and/or heat treating/case hardness. New internal parts to us so exactly sure who supplier is to MOPAR, but some markings in places are same as other non-MOPAR axles we've seen. Packed with Redline CV-2 to see if it alleviates the stresses causing the metal failure. Used customer's inner boot, but installed CVS outer boot and clamps with boot travel adjusted. Check fit & clearance when installed.
