RAVELCO THREAD

Chuck and Meagan made a trip to MA to install on my truck over the weekend and I would highly recommend them for the NorthEast. He already knew about the issue with the brake booster drilling and he told me that recently he has switched from drilling to using the factory passthrough and grommet. And he totally understood the issue with access to the fuse box and his install location (vertical) is out to the left away from the panel. And I can confirm there is no issue with the location as I had to pull the panel to hardwire my dashcam.

I also had mine installed at Ravelco of the Rockies in Arvada. They have space at a shop there. Unlike many others, they don’t do door-to-door service. The install was about 2 hours and is working great. Very easy to install and remove when getting in/out of the vehicle and I can’t see it when driving.

I made sure to ask about blocking access to the fuse box. I have direct access. Looks like some others may have had the bracket turned facing forward, which blocked access. But this location and method doesn’t block access to the fuses.

Seems like a good modification. I may look at mine and switch the bracket around like yours. On my TRX, the system has been flawless. Just had them install a system on my new Wrangler 392 XR too. Also a solid, great install and works fine.

Where’s everyone putting the plug? Location wise?
I don’t have Ravelco but there are numerous post where people placed there plug. It also appeared that placement was also based on comfort of the installer.

x2. Chuck and Meagan did my install on April 18 in Arlington, VA. They were very professional and I would highly recommend them. The Ravelco gives me some peace of mind.

Underneath the dash near the OBD port in a vertical position so it cannot be seen when plugged in.

Chuck and Megan are coming tomorrow to do my install.. So glad to hear all of the praise for them.

I went with the standard location for install. I’m 6’7” and have no issue with rubbing on my leg and forget it’s there while driving. Loving the Ravelco and piece of mind the truck isn’t going anywhere when I run into Home Depot.

Why not tie a cut out relay connected from one of the AUX switches to the fuel pump relay or starter relay that you can turn off when you park the truck. Wouldn't that be a lot easier than pull the relays each time? Since a thief is not going to want to spend too much time trying to figure out why he can't start the truck it would also be a deterrent.

You also have the benefit of being 6'7"

So you have the added fear-factor of Sasquatch pummeling your ass... if they can't get it started before you return with your lumber. :ROFLMAO:

How’d it go?
IT went super smooth. They are so professional in their work and so personable in their interactions. The install looks great (meaning you cannot see it at all!) and functions exactly as intended. I could not recommend them more.

There is a thread on here about "kill switches" that talks about that. I ordered a Mobilistic starter relay that only works when activated by a fob. They are not expensive and just replace one of your starter relays in your truck. I never used it because I found an IGLA installer by the time I got my truck.

Just had my Ravelco installed in NE Florida. It was the shop's Ravelco first install, but it turned out great - super professional and a quick turnaround. A little under three hours from drop off to pick up. Not bad considering the install time from the the Ravelco-endorsed installers. If you are looking for a recommendation in the NE Florida area, PM me and I'll give you the contact. The shop has applied to become an endorsed installer and is willing to come to you.

Chuck and Megan working on it now 🤪
They do get around... really wonder how he makes any money when factoring in all the travel expenses. Gas ain't exactly cheap these days. That's 1600 miles round-trip, 16+ hours of drive time, and at least one overnight. That's at LEAST $350 in actual expenses, plus whatever he buys the unit for from Ravelco, plus supplies. One speeding ticket in VA could blow his entire margin.
