RAVELCO THREAD

I read somewhere that this device purely works on magic, and the only way for it to be defeated is if the thief has an actual wizard along to unlock the spell that the installer puts on the device prior to collecting payment. With this newest model Revelco, no wires need to be spliced into, just a spell cast upon the plug in cap. I will be arranging the install shortly. (How was that for stupid talk) LOL

That’s the spirit

I'm sure it can. But, amazingly no true video exists for us to see. I can see 8,543,325 tik tok videos on everything from cooking steak to proper hand job angles, but in 40 years and 5 million units sold not one showing someone getting around Ravelco.

Amazing, when you think about it.

Or, maybe it is such a good deterrent that they just move right along.

Sure, anything can be defeated. The way to defeat Ravelco is with a flatbed.
5 million units sold. Revenue must be insane. Wonder why a main insurance company haven't acquired them or licensed out there product. Maybe it's on the horizon since ford is making a deal with adt

In 40 years...I'm betting most folks only know names like Viper. And yes, those work too. I just don't like having two fobs. Also, not sure how easy they are to defeat.

Something doesn’t add up though. Think about it. 5,000,000 units sold. They’ve been in business for 45 years. That’s 111,111 units a year. 2,136 units a week. An installer can only do 3-4 a day, max. So let’s say an installer can do 17.5/week on average. That would mean they have had 122 installers working consistently for 45 years. They only have one guy for the whole state of Tennessee (and he also covers a couple of other states).

Is it a global product?

What is that 125000 units average a year but I'm sure they weren't doing that pre internet and one would think they would be gaining year over year. As for Viper I think they sold majority last year for 11m. I wonder what the valuation would be for ravelco

I can assure you I am neither. I just don’t post on forums unless I either have a question or an answer. I don’t have my TRX yet so I really cannot provide answers so I don’t post. I am on the RAM tracker with my VIN. Not that it really means much.
Welcome to the forum pal.
Don't take personal what you read from these guys here. We're all a bunch of aholes.
The ravelco guys most people have dealt with so far have been very helpful and although they wouldnt disclose the exact wiring path the thing works from I'm sure they could give you a good understanding of the basics.
I plan on learning myself tomorrow but don't expect to get much other than the same things we read here.

Say Hi to Chuck and Megan for me... tell 'em Tom with the red TRX said "hey". Chuck got a kick out of the fact that so many of us on the forum kind of "know" each other.

Sure thing Tom. I'll try to snap a pic of them and post it here. Getting snow/rain again but they are coming.

I had a buddy who bought a car with a Ravelco in college. I've been up close and personal with the system and he and I investigated the work to remove it from his car and decided not to. The method shown in the video would work to defeat it. Whether or not a thief off the street could defeat it in the time they did it in the video is up for debate. But, I speak from experience, it can be defeated. Also, ask yourself, who was the source that said this was faked? (spoiler alert - as discussed in the thread above, Ravelco claims it was faked)

The take away is that it's a good option, if you're OK with plugging in the fob, but it is not magic.
Speak from experience bcuz he owned it or it was eventually stolen ? Are you suggesting a foreign guy in a foreign video that you don't know is a more credible source than Revelco? More credible than installers who say it wouldn't work? Where is any footage of any vehicle from any time with Ravelco being cracked besides this foreign one ? You spoke about your experience so I'd just like you to elaborate some. Someone speaking from fact not fiction on the subject would be refreshing. So since your buddy owned one in college please continue with your "experience" on the system.

Thank you for the warm welcome.
Just as a follow up, Tom488 answered my question exactly how I was hoping and I’m confident this is the way I will be protecting my truck when I get it.

I appreciate this community and it’s members for all the shared knowledge base regarding this truck we all love.

Yes it will help if you think you need it

Wish you were closer - I'd invite you to use my shop so the install could be done indoors.

Thank you for the offer, the issue is the rambar for my garage.
I will take care of them today, don't want to sound repetitive like many here but these two have been a pleasure to deal with. If you come out east to the Hauppauge area, give me a holler. Would like to see your truck 👍 👌

@TRXBankheist I hope this comes across as friendly debate and not me trying to pick an internet fight with you.

My experience is digging around under the hood of my buddies car looking for where the Ravelco was connected, finding a couple connections but knowing it had more, and giving up because it wasn't that important to us to remove it (there were other things needing fixed). But, what I got from that experience was an understanding of how it works. I understand what the guys in the video were doing, because I started down that path. The video is plausible. There's no brain to the Ravelco. The fob just completes a bunch of circuits. When you get yours installed, watch the install and talk to the installer. You'll also then understand. If you've experience with circuits, you'll understand how it can be defeated with a multimeter.

There seems to be an internet lore that Ravelco is super secure. So my point is, like all the security options we've discussed on this forum, Ravelco can be defeated (even the trunk monkey can be defeated - hint, bananas). It's a deterrent that'll thwart most thieves, and that's the best we can hope for.
