If you are coming for my truck, make sure you bring your cable cutter. You are going to need it.The relay you speak of literally takes 30 seconds to a minute at most to defeat. Open hood, open fuse panel, pull your relay, stick in a 2 inch piece of wire or paperclip and drive away. You can also pull your relay, pull another one out for something not needed to run like headlights or hvac ect and put it in the starter relay spot. Almost every vehicle has multiple relays that are the same.
That might deter some but the cover is cheap abs plastic the slices like butter with just a bit of heat and a razor blade. I have no interest in yours or anyone else’s vehicle. I am here to give information to try and help keep them from being stolen. I install anti thefts and stuff, I just don’t want someone buying something for cheap with the notion of them being something that will somehow stop a theft. They just add a few seconds to the process. If you are coming for my truck, make sure you bring your cable cutter. You are going to need it.
Thread '$15 locking fuse box (for Mobilistics or other relay devices)' https://www.ram-trx.com/threads/15-locking-fuse-box-for-mobilistics-or-other-relay-devices.13237/
Shill huh, don’t go asking for anti theft information when your vehicle is gone in just a few minutes. I am on here to give information and could care less if you come to me for an install of any kind. The price for all mopar installs fir the IGLA is the same for every installer in the US. We don’t have competition with each other or anyone else and we give all information and locations for installers closest to the person asking. If you don’t want information, then scroll past. If you do, then just ask and either myself or another installer will point you to the closest place. We are here to keep them from being stolen and not to get them stolen, its pointless to get an install after its goneWow guys, we've acquired an Igla shill, cool.![]()
Well maybe there is a way to lock the hood which would improve this system.View attachment 55079
Any of these relays can be swapped to the starter relay spot in a few seconds. There are probably a few thieves on this forum that are reading these posts so they know what to do when they relay your key fob signal and go to start it and it does nothing. They know its not IGLA equipped because they cloned the signal which IGLA blocks. They can also look by their knees and see if it has a ravelco, after that its either a starter disable switch which can only be within reach of the driver or the starter relay is pulled or swapped with the fob controlled one. Before long they will just carry an extra relay. I for one wouldn’t chance it with my $100,000+ vehicle.
That has been noted before. See post #218, for example. Nobody is claiming this to be anything close to fool proof, but probably pretty darn effective for the price. The relay you speak of literally takes 30 seconds to a minute at most to defeat. Not a sales pitch, just stating facts. Like I said, we don’t compete with each others and I honestly don’t care if you or anyone else gets one from me or any other installer. This is a side gig and don’t depend on it in any way. I can sit on my couch watching Netflix and still make over 140k a year and 90% of it is tax free and yes, 100% legal, thats how Iraq and DOD military retirement is.That has been noted before. And unlike your sales pitch, nobody discussing this relay is profiting from it. We are truly just offering information.
Maybe, but doing a cheap mod just to do another mod to cable lock the fuse panel, then another mod to lock the hood, then another mod for that mod ect ect is not doing anything but emptying your pocket and adding 20 pounds of unnecessary junk that will not stop it from being stolen. The IGLA system is about 2”x3/4”x 1/4” and can be installed anywhere can bus runs and is placed inside the wire harness and loom. There is no finding it unless you completely rip apart the whole vehicle and every harness. It’s currently in over 500,000 vehicles in 35 countries and in 13 years has had zero thefts. Kinda hard to beat those statsWell maybe there is a way to lock the hood which would improve this system.
Locking the rf hub will cause far too many problems if you lose your fobs or they become inop. You need a new pcm and a bunch of other stuff just to be able to get a new key fob made, so thousands of dollars. The IGLA has relay and key clone blocking so not even the dealership can make a new fob unless the IGLA is put into service mode with your personal pin and service button or if it is disconnected. Its almost impossible to find and gives off no signals, lights or sounds. So no, not a bandaid. As mentioned before - the only real solution to the problem of these trucks being entirely way too easy to steal is a firmware update that locks the RF hub from adding new fobs. Until that comes out, things like the mobilistics relay or removing random fuses/relay by hand will suffice. I personally wouldn't spend any money on an aftermarket alarm (RavelCo, Viper, etc), as those are just another bandage and essentially duplicating the functionality of the much cheaper mobilistics relay/manual (fuse|relay) removal.
Also, don't waste your money on an OBD port blocker. Those literally do nothing to slow down someone that knows how to steal these vehicles. They do help with making your wallet a bit lighter if you're into that, though.
Yes you can block the can bus port functions, with IGLA, it intercepts the start signal, lets say its 01010101. It takes the only signal that will start that particular vehicle and sends a false signal, lets say 01101010 and will keep sending that signal no matter what the thief's scanner tries to send until IGLA is authorized by the personal pin code, provided fob or cellphone app. It also has anti carjacking which none of the stuff in this thread has. What is going to stop someone from pulling you out of you ride at a light?I wonder if there is anything to block the open ports...not too sure what all is plugged into that harness. There has to be something. Superglue? Giant ball of JB weld?
Honestly designing some type of heavy hood lock would be a good one. Then you could be more confident keeping the fuse panel from being tampered with. Maybe someone on this forum has an idea for it.Maybe, but doing a cheap mod just to do another mod to cable lock the fuse panel, then another mod to lock the hood, then another mod for that mod ect ect is not doing anything but emptying your pocket and adding 20 pounds of unnecessary junk that will not stop it from being stolen. You could but the column, u-joints ect are not designed to have sideways pull and will probably fail. It also takes 20 seconds to see the cable, leave, get a battery cutoff wheel, come back, take 20 more seconds to cut and then your vehicle is gone. Not saying it isn’t an option, just stating what could and can happen. They will take that extra step to get a vehicle that costs more than they make in a few years. Its a sad truth with the opportunistic lazy mf’s in the US.Cant we just run a cable lock through the steering wheel down around the gas and/or brake pedal and lock it under tension...?
For those interested, I used this method with both the faraday bags (popular ones off amazon) and pulling of the relays multiple times on my trip and last night. It worked flawlessly. Just be careful when removing the starter relay as it's in there tight.....firm pressure barely moving side to side. It did slip out of my fingers and fall in the engine bay once but luckily I could get to it.Okay, I'm staying one night in Las Cruces on my drive back to CA and plan to pull this relay overnight at the hotel and carry faraday bags with me just in case. Any reason I should be concerned with this temporary method? Truck will start no problem when pulling the starter relay overnight and plugging it back in the next morning? No batter resets needed?
Got my IGLA appointment for literally day after I get back.
Also, anyone have a recommended faraday bag they use?
lol..lemme tell you an OEM is impossible to find and you have to buy chinese no brand name to replace oneFor those interested, I used this method with both the faraday bags (popular ones off amazon) and pulling of the relays multiple times on my trip and last night. I had mine go bad after two months. So I have had the mobilistics relay every since I got my truck. It has worked like a champ. Now all of a sudden, the trucks starts without having to press the remote button on the modilistics remote. Anyone have this issue? Not sure why it is all of a sudden starting like normal.
