Cons of Interchiller - In humid environments

Fantastic explanation man, thank you!

Per IC chiller's site it doesnt seem like a complete kit: "Coolant side is not part of PnP kit and requires basic understanding of plumbing and flow diagrams. Also, It would require hose, clamps and fittings to complete the install." Not sure i want to reinvent the wheel in that department so would probably opt out of the 3-way bypass and just run chiller or nothing all the time. Plus the idea of another solenoid to go bad doesnt rev my engine.

**Can anyone tell me if the condensation drip into the cylinders is something that can /will cause long term detrimental effects of any kind?
Someone on here mentioned a few weeks back that IC has upgraded some of their hardware. Might want to actually reach out and confirm the setup with them. Perhaps it is more plug and play now. I believe the 4 port bypass from FI is plug and play. FI also has their TRX specific reservoir out now. And no you will not damage the motor long term from some water ingestion at this level.

This is all good information on here, but for the OP @blaster9 i still would not recommend the chiller on a stock untuned vehicle in a humid climate. One of the things that I believe a lot of folks offering advice here are not taking into account is that the OP is not tuning. Therefore unable to add fuel to the startup maps to help with warm starts. So while those of us that are tuned see this problem occur in humid climates even with fuel enrichment, his situation will be worse on the stock map. Everyone else I know running a chiller is also pushing higher boost and therefore has more issues with thermal management. Just my .02 from a comparative perspective.

A 4-port bypass?! What does this to the lowercase "h" that i just wrapped my head around haha? is this an uppercase "H" now?? If so, where is the 4th connection going?!

I burn enough fuel as it is man and if I get the chiller, I'll be burning even more since my timing wont be so retarded lol

Given how hot it is here in Fla, I suspect my bricks will heat back up real quick esp. with no heat exchanger on. Spend the last 10 mins driving with no AC/chiller on and I'll be at 200 IAT and 150 IC temp lol

Good luck. You are more patient than me. I don’t want to have to treat my DD special. Save that for the toys. You are the only person I know in a humid climate going to run a chiller stock so I would love to hear your review after awhile.

I'm not 100% sold yet & I'm waiting on @Boosted to get back to IC Chiller to then get back to me on whether the kit will work with Brawler's behind grill light setup (and the windshield washer rezzy relocation). I might be willing to ditch the windshield washer rezzy, but if that is the case then I might as well go Ripa or FI and get the expansion tank to go in its place...

I think I'm probably less worried just b/c i'm used to intake valve cleaning my last few DI vehicles every 5k so i know all about the sputters and rough idle. Sometimes the engine would die if i got overzealous/inpatient on the spray and I'd have to restart and it would sound like I had a pretty radical cam installed like 1 of the other posters mentioned.

@AZDinoPwr do you think the expansion tank is necessary for my goal(s) of keeping temps low enough to do a quick 0-60 or a quick 3-6 second rolling pass?

Here’s another dumb Q: what does everyone do when ambient temps are 20-30 degrees or below? Would running your AC/ heat activate the chiller? If so, could that be problematic given how cold ambient temps are??!

Hey Blaster why not get the 1" blower spacer plates to help with the cooling and install a Banks pedal monster to tweak your throttle curve/response? That's what I'm looking at doing in the future along with the predator pulley and the S&B I already have. My truck is my DD and I tow with it daily so I won't be going super performance track truck like sine in here.

If im pulling the blower off, im doing a helluva lot more than putting a spacer on lol. Been there done that and it’s backbreaking work and I’m sure you need a cherry pick and at least one other able-bodied man to assist (neither of which i have at my disposal)

Come to Ontario, Canada I got both a picker and a half decent abled body, we can do yours and mine at the same time! :D

This is Charlie Link. Sumit Goyal and I own IC Chiller. I am literally in the middle of swapping axles in my car for a race this weekend. I would be happy to clarify any questions you have about our chiller system. If you want to reach out to me via Facebook messanger I will give you my personal phone number and you can call me to discuss. I can also send you pictures and videos of our system on the TRX. We have a couple of great dealers in Florida that do installations and sell our kits so I can give you good references local to Florida as well

Sent you a message via my wife's FB. Good luck at the track thish wknd man!

Charlie and I were supposed to install the IC Chiller on my TRX last weekend but life happened. At any rate, I am 99.9% certain we can get it to work with the Behind the Grille lights and not disturb the relocated windshield washer reservoir.

We should be installing mine in the next couple of weeks if you wanted to wait to be sure.

Bill

Haha great minds think alike Bill! Yes, I’ll probably wait till you get yours installed so you can give me any feedback on the install. Im gunna give Charlie a call Monday to discuss his chiller and a few lingering questions i have.

I’m running one on my stock Super Stock and it makes a huge difference in performance.

I’m following this all closely for exactly the same reason.

I’m also curious, how we are defining “humid” climate? FL is of course extreme humidity… what about mid-Atlantic/north east humidity.

Who cares about ur humidity. If i end up pulling the trigger and things work out here in the steamy depths of hell, we know you'll be just fine in ur mid-Atlantic cool breeze island hahaha

You running the IC chiller on the SS? No expansion/rezzy tank right? Are you running the 3-way bypass? If so, any chance you have P/Ns for the fittings/hoses/etc you used?
