Best Tonneau cover?

Here is my PaceEdwards retractable Tonneau. I just added the Yakima Overhaul HD bards and brackets. Need a separate attachment to work with tonneau covers and had no problems installing myself (took about 90 minutes).

Much to my dismay after a really hard rain in IN last night my bed is completely dry. I still think the product is a turd (at least the one I have) and hope they will reach out as I sent them feedback with my video link. I have no problem with something being broken if they take care of me, but I don't think that design is the best for security if I am honest. That said I bought it for less water and no snow in the bed not security so if they can get me one that isn't bent up I will shut up about it but every time Iook at it as it is it bothers me. I may get through dropping my son at college with this then order an ARE cap and be done with it but for now at least it did keep water out so credit where it is due.

Well I definitely don’t plan on locking anything worth worrying about back there but some do so i can’t say anything about the security end of the cover but what do you mean if they take care of your issues? Do you have the same issue i had with the under elly of the cover having obe of those have moon pieces busyed leaving you with a bump out on the top side?

here are my issues:

add to that that it's now been 4 days (2 weekend admittedly) since I reached out to them and provided this video and a description of the problems. No call, no email, nothing. I am just over all unimpressed with everything about the company. I am moving on - my TRX is scheduled now and I have to decide if I will trade the power wagon for the trx or not. I love this power wagon, but really want the trx....can't figure out how to have both

Dammmmn sorry to hear this. They were pretty fast to answer me and it took about a week and a half total to get my new one.

Close to a month now with the X4S. No issues so far.

Just installed the Bak X4S and no issues with mine. Took maybe 30 minutes total with install and small little tweaks. Works perfect. The little plastic caps on the end of the rails where both off upon opening the box but reinstalled both with a firm push and made sure the clips seated all the way. I'm happy with it.

I have had it close to a month now. No issues, I was shocked at how easy and quick it wad to install and how good ad solid it looks closed. Crossing my fingers the experience doesn't change...

I think they are good covers if you get a good one. Quality control sucks though and lets too many flawed covers get shipped

Yup i can’t blame you for that. I am ok with shipping damage and reasonable replacement time by the manufacturer but not 3 bad covers. That is just ridiculous. Hope you find one you like in the end and be sure to give it a review so the rest of the forum gets a feel for the different covers out there.

still no response. I will reach out again at the end of the week. When the cover is closed it is actually pretty nice. When it is open it is as it should be. The in between is an issue that should not be there. It's really not a BIG deal to have to smack the thing to shut it but for 1k+ on a cover like this I don't find it acceptable. It won't be what I put on the TRX when i get it and should I somehow get to keep this Power Wagon which I really really want to but just can't see any way I will be able to pull it off....the conversations my wife would have with me would be priceless though if I had a TRX and a Power Wagon in the driveway.

At any rate I will not work with the BAK company ever again after this. The lack of response is worse than the actual problem. oh well moving on now.

still no response. My follow up is coming to them today. On th plus side with the heat it seems to be a little less messed up than it was in that video. the front is now more even of a bulge so at least it looks OK and helps the water run off. The side is better but still has to be hit to lock but it's not "AS bad". The thing is pretty water tight except right at the tailgate and when open or closed it is fine and functional, just stupid to have to hit it to lock it in place. It will stay for now - I think I am going to get a soft topper if I find a way to keep this but with the trx scheduled to be built I am not putting more into it for now....it's a tough choice as I really like this power wagon.

I did get a bed rug mat that showed up. That fits perfect, installs in 5-10 mins and saves my knees in the bed. I will buy a bedrug mat for the TRX too. I am very happy with that.

Those of you with the Ram Bar and Bak X4s. Can you share some photos of the area near the cab/ram bar. When I tried to install mine yesterday, it appeared the rail is too narrow to accept the "alignment" clips that run down the rail. However halfway down the bed and towards the tail gate it fit. Maybe I had it clamped too low into the bed?

I’ve had 4 over the past 12 years, never a problem. Powder coated aluminum, wipe down with WD40 and looks brand new all the time. Strong, secure, easy to use. They do have drain tubes so keep an eye on those in case your cargo disconnects one. They aren’t cheap but they are the best I’ve used.

Retrax Pro is good. I have seen hundreds of happy customers across the web and only one single person in this thread unhappy with Retrax. I did my due diligence for a few months before I settled on the Retrax Pro. The only downside, to me, is the box taking up some of an already short bed. It has not yet been an issue to me, just an OCD thing with the 'but what if I need that room' in my own mind.

My recommendation would be a Retrax Pro or a PaceEdwards.

I did a retraxone MX on my truck. Actually ordered a XR since it was marked down $500 at the time (but they sent MX rails which i actually preferred). But I have not had any issues and hasnt had no issues with leaks. Truck sleeps in The garage and has not been experienced alot of heavy rains yet. But very impressed with cover for the price i paid ($940 plus tax and free shipping). After ordering price went back up to $1419

Sorry to bring this up again but wanted to update the BAK Industries revolver ordeal.

I am now at the point I would tell anyone do not order their crappy products and while I know some have had a different experience my advice would be with all of the quality control issues save yourself the worry and shop for another brand.
