My Retrax Pro is great. It sounds like your issue may be an issue with the installer who may not have installed correctly.

I have a BAK X4s. The one I have now is good. However, they had to ship 4 covers to me before I got a good one. The first 2 were defective. The 3rd got lost. The forth was just right lol. Johnny from Justboltons.com kept after BAK until I was satisfied.

What kind of defects were they?

used the bakflip mx4 on my trd pro and it performed well plus 99% water resistant, only thing was it blocked the rear window when fully folded.. going with retraxpro xr now, seems to be the best from my research.. a little pricey, but one and done , found a nice deal for it , ill be happier when its delivered.

I would go with the BAK Revolver X4s.
Completely flush, quick to open and close, doesn’t block the window, easy to remove with no tools required.

I just put one of these in my power wagon today actually. I would not recommend it based on my experience and will be reaching out to back flip about a refund or exchange. Most people have had really good reviews so maybe I got a lemon but the plastic caps on the end I had to hot glue back in place as one was off when I opened it and the other popped off the first time I shut the cover and locked it in place. The driver side has sone bends in the cover and it could be shipping as it didn’t look like it was treated well but in the end it bubbles and you have to hit the cover to lock a part in place and even when down there is a bubble at the front. The idea that this is secure is laughable too. I believe with a screw driver you could pop it up at the tailgate and break things to get in if you wanted to.

It’s my first cover like this and I am a bit of a perfectionist on the truck admittedly but I am really in impressed and disappointed in the quality of this thing. I left it on but it is bugging me as I type this and I may just pull it off and put it in a dumpster if they don’t want to make it right. I have a video that will likely be on YouTube for them to see but if this is deemed ok I would not buy anything from the company ever or suggest anyone else does other than at their own risk. I would not attach myself to them at this point.

Have one of these on my Raptor. Best cover I have ever had. This is the manufacturer. This cover is also sold under other brand names usually at higher price. I will be ordering one for my TRX when it gets delivered.

I have this one.... took less than a half hour to install... Sits flush, looks great.... Don't get a lot of rain here, but I wash my truck weekly (sometimes with a power-washer) Never seen a drop of moisture in the bed.

I don’t know who you bought from but if you bought from @Johnny@JustBoltOns he will make BAK replace the cover. He did for me anyway

The first two covers I received had some slats that wouldn’t lay flat. That looks like crap on an expensive truck and would have leaked a lot of water. The 3rd cover was lost in shipping and never arrived. The 4th cover is great but damn that was a hassle. @Johnny@JustBoltOns took care of getting BAK to warranty the covers. I like it now that I have a good one. It was bought for my 21 TRX but I kept it when I sold that truck and then installed it on my 2022 TRX

Does your truck have a Ram Bar?

My TRX will have a Rambar, but other than the brand paregon I have yet to find another maker that lists a cover as “seamless even with a Rambar”. Only that said brand I mentioned.
You know of any other brands that have covers working seamlessly with the RamBar ? It’s been quite difficult to find I have thought. Lmk

I’ve had a few of the different brands, the Retrax Pro is a good one. It also fits if you have The Ram Bar.

The retrax pro def fits and people have even posted pictures but it is not a seamless fit and the RamBar bolts get in the way. I have seen members on the forum go as far as replacing the manufacturer’s bolts because there are with a flatter top line but still it is definitely not seamless and still is visible.

I’m on my 3rd Bakflip cover and haven’t had a single issue with any of them. My current X4S fits perfectly. I installed the Mopar bed divider along with it and it’s a slick setup as well.

I bought directly from Bak. I am sure they will want to make it right and I guess I like it when it’s closed but I would not buy this design again. I firmly believe I could break into this with a little effort knowing how it’s put together. I will have to get either a cap or a rolling cover I think. I am

He just moved down to Phx from Utah and the plastic on some of the interior clamp hardware on his x4s is literally melting. I should have a grabbed a picture last night but it wasn’t really on my mind to share until I saw this thread today. Perhaps a great cover in cooler climates but not sitting outside in 120 deg temps. Looks like I’m going Peragon.

The way it’s designed I literally have no idea how it’s possible to come off the rollers and out of the channel unless your tracks are so far misaligned and out of whack because someone didn’t measure properly installing it. The Retrax Pro is awesome. I have zero complaints.

Just installed the Bak X4S and no issues with mine. Took maybe 30 minutes total with install and small little tweaks. Works perfect. The little plastic caps on the end of the rails where both off upon opening the box but reinstalled both with a firm push and made sure the clips seated all the way. I'm happy with it.

Much to my dismay after a really hard rain in IN last night my bed is completely dry. I still think the product is a turd (at least the one I have) and hope they will reach out as I sent them feedback with my video link. I have no problem with something being broken if they take care of me, but I don't think that design is the best for security if I am honest. That said I bought it for less water and no snow in the bed not security so if they can get me one that isn't bent up I will shut up about it but every time Iook at it as it is it bothers me. I may get through dropping my son at college with this then order an ARE cap and be done with it but for now at least it did keep water out so credit where it is due.

I've had my BakFlip installed since last September. I open/fold and close it all the time to toss a stroller in the bed, but I've never inspected the clamp hardware. Now you've got me paranoid about shit melting, since it has been sweltering hot as fug lately. From an operational standpoint, it has always worked great. So I'm hoping my clamps look good and your buddy just got a bad batch of plastic or something
