Best replacement battery?

Oh cool, thanks!!! I'll definitely look into that. It looks way better than a piece of wood or whatever I might find. I'm going to take measurement when I get home. I see the spacer is 2.3 inches.

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread. Maybe I should start new one?

I replaced my battery with the antigravity and truck started right up. I clearly was losing the old battery. I let it idle for several minutes and Check Engine, Battery and Vehicle not in Park light stayed on. I was hoping they would automatically clear after I installed new battery. The voltage stayed at 14.0 to 14.1. Very steady.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Did you cycle it a couple times. I don’t thing you have to start it, just go to run position let the gauges flop and stop, then back to off. Let the gauges go off. Open door, close door, interior light will go off, wait 60 seconds, repeat. Or whatever the DT tazer instructions says. If that doesn’t work, trying pulling codes.

My TRX is a 22 with 65k miles on it with the original battery. I'm thinking about being proactive and replacing it soon rather than waiting for it to die at an inopportune time. I've been watching the voltage gauge very closely (now that the gauges are working again after the OTA update fiasco) I've seen it drop as low as 12.8v once or twice and go as high as 14. It seems to hang in the 13.5 to 13.8 range pretty steady. Still cranks strong and no indications of the battery getting weak.

Any thoughts if now is the time to replace it or wait?

I did not do that. Sorry, what's "DT Tazer"?

Today I went out to truck to try removing cables for a few and re-install to see if my warning lights went away. Truck now has zero power, same as if there were absolutely no battery. Dead. I tried the emergency re-start that the antigravity battery has and nothing. I'm so confused now. I have no idea if there's a draw but the antigravity should've started the truck if there was. It reminds me of my old Dodge when a fuse relay went out. Did I throw parts ($1400 battery) at a problem without fixing it?

I'm lost as to what to try next. Don't want to have to tow it! And don't want to go to dealership where it may sit and sit :(

I did discharge using a voltmeter because cables aren't long enough to touch each other.

What would you do next?

Thanks everyone!

Larry

Do you have anything plugged into the 12v accessory on top of the dash?

If you getting it working, try this.

H5 in a TRX?

Lots of guys here use the Odyssey H8 if I recall correctly. I am still on the factory battery so no personal experience.
Is your factory battery an agm or flooded?

Like I've been saying Odyssey is not what it used to be. I went through 3 in a year or so if I can remember correctly.
Junk

Sad if Odyssey has gone down hill. i still have my 2016 battery in my 73 vw beetle and it seems to be holding strong with no issues (i also have the charger). Thats a bummer.

Anyone use the interstate AGM brand frmo costco?

Costco changed their 3-year full replacement warranty to a 3-year limited warranty (prorated). If the battery model you get is manufactured by EastPenn (Deka) for Interstate then it will be fine. If it is Clarios or Exide then it is a toss up.

In general, pretty much everything is garbage now. The EV push probably doesn’t help though, lithium prices have gone nuts. I’ve had good luck with the Odyssey batteries though. Optima is absolute garbage now from my experience.

anyone use an Optima DH7 YellowTop in their TRX? Has 880CCA. I’ve used them previously in my Ram 1500 Laramie Sport and no issues at all. Live in a hot ass Houston climate so need something that can handle heat. What do you guys recommend as best OEM replacement battery. I’ve only got 16K on my 2023 but I know these things only last 3 years or so (OEM). Suggestions welcomed!

You can get the Odyssey H8 (950 cca) for the same money and in my opinion it's a better battery.

I’ve had good luck with yellow tops in the past, but I think I’ll go with this one again when im due. OEM batt still going strong after 3+ years prolly the hood solar has helped!
