Best replacement battery?

Has anyone’s TRX actually come with an H7 stock? I was operating under the same assumption as many here about “sizing up” but when I went to change it I found an H8 anyway. It’s a lousy one, but it’s an H8 nonetheless. I definitely wouldn’t downsize to an H7.View attachment 148373
If you referred to my post I meant to say H7 is the class/size of the TRX OEM battery.
Our trucks come from factory with some shitty H7 class unbranded battery.

The Odyssey H7 size has been in my experience worse than the OEM crap that my truck originally had (n)

What makes that an H8 battery?
Well, the length of it.

Mine came with an H8.

Here’s another guy with a TRX removing an H8 and replacing with an H7 for some reason. You can see the part number and CCA is the same as mine, just an earlier revision (AA vs AB). You can also see after installing the new battery there’s a huge gap at the ends of the OEM battery blanket because it’s too big for the smaller battery.

I can’t be the only one who noticed the battery I took out was the same size as the “upgraded size” I put in…

They both looked the same size to me, but I just assumed it was an H7 due to output, not just physical size. That and the fact that everyone was calling it an H7.

800CCA is definitely on the very low end for an H8. Even a cheap Walmart H7 is rated higher.

I kept it because it’s still somewhat functional but I definitely don’t regret replacing it.

Both of my TRX came with an H8. Both were replaced with Odyssey ODP-AGM49 H8 L5. Best I could tell that was the only US made option available. Every other brand is a Mexican clone now, none of the big names are as good as they used to be.

While waiting for my Odyssey to arrive I did run an Interstate Battery for a while as the OEM battery was dying and needed to be replaced right away. The extra space is a non issue and maybe my truck was faster by saving the 30 pounds 😉. Those Odyssey batteries are like lead bricks. They have to weigh more than 70 pounds.

I had no idea that referred to the actual physical size, thought it was output as well. I think the reason you find a lot of people replacing them with a H7 is that's what they all recommend for these trucks when you plug it into the battery finder on their websites. I know that's what what odyssey's website recommended, just checked and it still shows their H7 as the recommended replacement for the TRX. LOL

The store I got my Odyssey H7 replaced does not recommend that size for the TRX. That made me think it was undersized (800 cca)for some reason but I'm sure that is enough.

I think I just have gotten the so called clones all bad in a row. The manager from the store said they aren't what they used to be. Who knows

I REALLY would like a lithium for the weight savings and lower self-discharge rates. I'm a bit confused with all the groups and numbers. I see here many recommend H7 or H8. When I look up lithium batteries on Jegs by vehicle (2022 TRX) this one comes up. I don't see H7 or H8. Group 34 is listed and it seems it would physically fit and posts are on correct side.

What do you all think? It's only 20lbs! https://www.jegs.com/i/Braille-Battery/147/F34/10002/-1

edit: I'm looking at forum pics right now and trying to figure out if TRX batteries are considered Left or Right side positive. Now I'm not sure. OnTheReel's pic above seems to be right side positive but the battery is turned around?

I see someone recommended antigravity lithium batteries. I was looking at Braille because I've had one for years in a car of mine and it's been reliable. Braille's customer service sucks though.

Looks like this would be the proper antigravity. It's also super light at approximately 20-25 pounds. Yes, they are expensive, but on average last much longer than agm and standard.

Close to 70. Shipping weight 66lbs, battery 62lbs according to manufacturer.

The groups refer to size.

H7 = 94R
H8 = 49

I’m not sure if a 34 will work.

Good to know! I must have installed mine after arm/shoulder day as I swear they felt heavier while upright-rowing them into position.

I ordered this one. Yeah, expensive but the truck is worth it.

2,000 CCA Antigravity Battery Lithium Car Battery with Re-Start AG-H7-80-RS BCI Group H7/Group 94R

i prob wont be long behind you. looking to order mine in the next month or two. Let me know if you experience anything along the way

Pulling the old battery out required a step stool due to it's weight. The new antigravity was so simple to put in the space and the factory hold down fit perfectly, as they advertise. I might stick a spacer in the front or rear because the battery is not as long, but I don't think it will move since I don't off road. Two remotes came with it for the "restart" feature, so that's nice. I installed it before work and didn't even have enough time to start the truck lol.

I think this is the factory spacer they use on trucks that come with the H7 but it’s been awhile since I owned one.
