Best replacement battery?

Are NorthStar batteries the same as Odyssey now? I ran NorthStars in everything I’ve owned.

NorthStar is owned by Enersys now, same company that owns Odyssey. As far as I can find, they no longer sell automotive batteries under the NorthStar name/brand.

You can still get a "NorthStar" H7 battery (OEM size for all 2019+ Ram 1500 gas V8 engines) through Batteries Plus. Its under their house brand name of X2Power. However, they do not offer a H8 under that name if you wanted to upgrade.

Anyone running the Odyssey AGM65 Extreme series instead of the Odyssey H8?

Wondering this as well. I am back and forth on trying to find an affordable Lithium Ion or go with the Odyssey. Follwoing this thread. FWIW, my battery in my 1973 vw beetle is an odyssey extreme from 2016 and i do have it on the odyssey charger. still runs strong.

Sorry if this was answered somewhere else and I missed it, but will a 65 fit? Its a little bit wider than the group 49 (H8), and not a lot of differences. If you favor short circuit protection and 9 lbs of weight savings over energy capacity, than maybe the 65 is an option, assuming it fits.

Yo what’s up?
I’m getting low battery alert on my drone mail app so I guess it’s time for a replacement.
Go Birds!
I have a 12.5v reading on my drone app as well. Wondering what the culprit is.

Mine was well below 12.5 and in the red. I think it was in the lower 11 volts. If you’re at 12.5 volts I wouldn’t worry about it. Especially after sitting.

Time to start considering new batteries as my truck has been in Texas summer 2x……2023 model with 14.5K. What’s the current group go to? Optimum Yellow Top DH7 or an Odyssey AGM? Both are $350. Odyssey has 1150 CCA compared to Optima’s 880 CCA. I’ve used an optima in previous ram truck and they worked great. Just worried about quality since they got bought. Thanks all?

Odyssey H8.

Agreed, H8. It's larger than OEM but still fits the factory location and blanket fits also. Got mine through FCP Euro. Supposedly they offer a lifetime warranty even on batteries, don't know how that's possible but supposedly it's legit.

Anyone try the Optima OrangeTop QH6? It is a Lithium Batt for $849 on the optima website?

I've replaced 3x Odyssey H7s in less than a year. All went dead dead. Took my truck to get checked and nothing is excessively drawing, no issues there. Decided to change to another AGM brand and so far it's been holding up.
Not sure these Odyssey H7s are good for our trucks. I know they are direct OEM replacements but I can only think at this point something is really wrong with them.

Thought it could be a bad batch but grabbed them from different stores and they were months apart. Who knows. Not an Odyssey fan here

Has anyone’s TRX actually come with an H7 stock? I was operating under the same assumption as many here about “sizing up” but when I went to change it I found an H8 anyway. It’s a lousy one, but it’s an H8 nonetheless. I definitely wouldn’t downsize to an H7.

What makes that an H8 battery?
