If it makes you feel better that feature is borderline unusable on my truck. People bitch about the TRX emblem on the console branding them but that heated wheel is no joke. Way too hot. I found a way to enable 3 different heat levels in AlfaOBD but it’s not the most intuitive since the logo can’t reflect the hi med and low settings properly. Maybe UC5 will!

That’s kinda what I’m thinking. The book time is under an hour so it’ll probably take me 5 and I’ll loose a finger or two in the process.

Next piece landed today.

Used 2023 radio module. Judging by the VIN (PN500016) and being the first version (AA), it’s from a very early 2023, but a 2023 all the same. I only saved around $100 by buying used, but actually having it in hand was more important. The latest revision (68583503AE) can’t even be ordered online at the moment.

I also ordered a 2023 CVPM and the new screen. I elected to get the screen with the parallel park assist button. That feature will never work on a TRX but it’ll look better to me than that stupid blank. And it was in stock. The one with just the lane keep assist button was not, and they are all the same price anyway.

Side note: if you are doing this (or just a UC5 swap) on a TRX it’s a no brainer to at least order the screen with the LKA because you just need to activate it in AlfaOBD. All the hardware is there. Mine already had LKA from factory so I’m not gaining anything (other than UC5).

Once I knew I was actually getting the BCM and knew that I could program it myself, I totally went balls to the wall on this.

I saw a few links to Google drive downloads on the normal 5th gen forum so I’ll be able to update it that way. Obviously the OTA function will never work but I actually prefer not to have connected services on my truck.

I think I found the only used 2023 radio in existence. And even better, in my search I noticed that the 12” UC4 stuff (and 2021 CVPMs) still go for decent money on the used market to people without these options. So when I sell the old parts, hopefully I’ll recover 60% or more of the cost of the UC5 parts.

Surprisingly these two play nice with each other and coordinate perfectly. Almost a shame it’s getting ripped out for UC5 in a couple weeks.

Yep, the GT versions have the same black chrome trim as the TRX.

Regrettably it’s still acting as if the RF hub isn’t married so nothing happens when I push the start button. oh no…..man I hope you get it figured out without involving the dealer. I can’t imagine that will be inexpensive.

Not sure if that truck is on their newest electrical architecture, but it seems like that would be impossible either way. Hard enough installing stuff from the same truck. lol
