2023+ digital cluster swap (COMPLETE WRITE UP)

is it better to replace BCM when you had the old cluster and radio and go to dealer with that and replace the radio and cluster afterwords? unless your mileage won't cause any issue at the dealer service center
I did the cluster only so far and the steering wheel switch. I'm not sure how they will react to the mileage. @OnTheReel might have better insight on that.

I do know on my Ram app, the mileage from my new cluster is displayed there. I'm not sure if actual mileage is stored anywhere else in the trucks modules.

I also do not know if I put my original cluster back in, that it will update the mileage or just leave off from when I removed it

For those that have done this Cluster Swap, I swapped 2023 BCM, Radio and Cluster and all is working (Tiles) except when I try the Nav Maps in Cluster in justs says
"Maps Display is Loading Please Wait" and that was after a 10 minute drive to get gas and back. I reset the Cluster and Radio using AlfaOBD as well and checked the BCM Programming and all looks as it should. Any ideas if this is Normal?

curious what your interaction was with the dealer for the BCM. Did you just ask them to install it in your truck and they did no questions asked. Also did you already have the cluster swapped or did you do the BCM First?

Maybe you can go to dealer and tell them your old cluster went completely blank and you replaced it out of pocket with what you could find and now you want to replace the BCM. You must tell them to adjust the mileage just in case if there are issues later than create discussion for the mileage inaccuracy.

They asked and I said it was for future upgrades as it has the 2023 newer software and he said OK. They charged me $341 (I thought High) and did a recall for rear trailer something and fixed my broken drivers side step bracket under warranty, so all in all not to bad. I did not change the Cluster until after nor would I recommend having it in when you do that.

What actually needs to be done to the BCM? Like what are they doing to the new one to program it?

Is it just a clone of the current BCM? Or is it dealer specific, from the factory only programming, they load on it?

Only asking cause an ex service tech friend of a friend says he can do the BCM.

I dropped it off at 1:00 for a 2:00 appt. and they called me at 4:00 it was ready.
for your maps issue. I would make sure your ethernet connector in the back of the radio is 1st fully seated and then maybe try it in the 2nd slot from the usb connection. The 2nd slot is the one in the schematic, but there is thought that which slot its in shouldn't matter.

You must take the new BCM in with the truck and ask that they install and program it. They will restore it, take it out of plant mode, and link it with the RF hub.

Linking with the RF hub is the particular part that the dealer has to do I think

Ah yes I forgot about that pesky RF hub.. I haven't talked to this guy directly so I'll pick his brain.

Ultimately I don't want to experiment. I also want to avoid the dealer...fack
