Vibration/grinding on takeoff

Mine is back with the colder weather here in NJ this week. Hasn’t done it since March/April and I daily drive mine. Still only within the first minute or 2 of driving on the 1-2 shift first thing in the morning. I do let my truck warm up for about 10-15 min before I drive when it’s cold out. I figured someone would have figured it out by now. I’m positive it’s cold weather related and that about all I know.

I just stumbled into this thread, but my 22 is now making this same noise. Only when it's cold and on the 1-2 shift. I just started noticing it recently. Truck only has 3800 miles on it.

Yes - I’m further North in Canada and can confirm it is much worse in cold weather.

My ‘22 is back at the dealership to get this issue looked at again tomorrow. It feels like the noise is getting more intense/pronounced now (more so the. Last fall/winter I mean) and is happening under less aggressive acceleration. I’m not holding my breath that the dealership will have different news from my previous visits but I’m going to stay on them about this. My hope is Ram tech support will finally approve the diagnostic work on the transmission..I’m pretty confident that it will show the problem. If @RamCares actually reads the posts their tagged in they would see that there are numerous unhappy TRX owners that are experiencing the same problems!!

My Truck has done this since day 1 only when cold and on 1 to 2 shift. It has gotten much less frequent but will occasionally still do it with 18k on the clock. I Think it is a timing issue as one gear let's go and the other one grabs. I bought the extended Warranty. Will just ride it out and see what happens. May be nothing and a software update could fix it.

Mine has done it since new as well. Brought mine home on 9/17/22 with 15 miles on it. Noticed it for first time in October of last year after a few weeks of ownership

Nothing to report from my recent visit to the dealership. They are waiting on a response from Ram Tech Support after they confirmed my symptoms for the third or fourth time.

Ditto

No joke, mine has been doing this occasionally too. I have to make a left hand turn onto the main road where I live and then accelerate. So far, it is only when leaving my driveway when shifting from 1 to 2. I've been trying to figure out if it is power steering, transmission, front diff, or somewhere else.
Did you end up figuring out the issue!? My 22 has been making a grinding type noise when shifting from first to second at 3/4 throttle. Usually when turning left onto Main Street lol

No, still doing this on occasion. I heard it a couple of times over the summer, both times were after it had been sitting for a week or so between drives. I'm hearing it more frequently now that the weather is cooling off again.

This literally just happened to me today!

3100 miles, taking a left turn at acceleration and the video sounds just like mine. only has happened once that i am aware of and it JUST started to get cold this week.

Ill be monitoring this thread and seeing if i can recreate the issue!

Just an FYI for Canadian members RamCares WILL NOT help us out. Dint waste your time messaging them. I've reached out to them on another issue and was told they don't have anything to do with Canadian warranty claims. We have to go through our own Ram tech support.

Hi - hoping someone can help here. When I take off from a stop the truck randomly makes a stutter/grinding vibration for just a small amount of time . Maybe similar sound to when you hit a rumble strip. Seems possibly transmission related and only occurs from start. Happens randomly. Truck has 1500 miles on it.
this happens to me. dealer couldnt find anything wrong with it. You will see many people say you need to let the truck warm up. When my truck is thoroughly warm it doesnt do it

This is happening with the wheels turned and under hard acceleration. The front inside tire would tend to slip on the pavement under this condition, especially at the shift. Is the trac-control thinking you are in a sway or slide condition and activating the anti-brake system? When the anti-brake system is activated for trac-control or to stop a sway/slide condition, it sounds as everyone is describing the noise. This could explain why people are getting 10,000's of miles with this condition, but not having anything fail.

I posted this on the other string about this subject as well.

Yes - that's the most likely, however the traction light does not kick on... so no way to prove it without some sort of dealer systems monitor to confirm it. Also very hard to replicate on demand :(

This is not the tires slipping, this is something mechanical in the truck. I've had it happen without turning as well.

Trac-control is a mechanical action, if/when incorporating the anti-brake system. Sounds like a tire rubbing and feels terrible. People have had transfer cases and transmissions replaced, did not stop the noise. Not much left.

Mine does it regularly without the wheels turned. That would eliminate this theory completely.
