Vibration/grinding on takeoff

I have only seen one TRX with this issue, but there seems to be more ppl posting on this message board.

My dealer is saying it’s abs as part of the traction control system.

I’m taking mine back soon though because it still does it with tractor control off.

My truck has been having this issue for a while now with many trips to the dealership. I could easily recreate it when I took service techs for a ride but it still took over a year to get Ram to finally approve the air test of the clutches that @ksmopars has mentioned in this group. My truck is in with the dealership right now. It’s been a couple days but I haven’t heard anything back yet. I will update once I get more information.

Got a call this morning from the dealership. After this round diagnostic work, Ram finally approved the replacement of my transmission! The issue was just as @ksmopars explained previously. Took a lot of time and headache pushing the service manager but finally they acknowledged what was happening wasn’t ‘normal’ and testing proved it. Part is on back order so who knows how long it’ll take to come in but at least there is progress!

what specifically was damaged inside the tranny? Do we know if Ram and/or ZF have updated the tranny to avoid future issues? I know updates to part numbers happen all the time but I'm not sure the history of the HP95

I don't know a ton about this kind of stuff but my understanding is they found an issue with a clutch when they performed the air test..that said I really had to push the issue just to get the air test done. No idea about updates to the tranny.

Can you share your service invoice once everything is complete? Would be helpful to be able to share this with our dealers.

@RamCares Appears this is a widespread issue. Any TSB expected for it?

Yes please keep us updated and share the invoice if you can. My truck has had this issue since this thread was started. I’d like to have ammo before I visit the dealer so I don’t have to explain everything until I’m blue in the face.

The first time I heard this with a customer, it took a bit to figure it out. Sounds like a wooden chair sliding across a floor? It's in the trans. Performed all the air check tests and found 1/2 clutch test failed. replaced trans with new and customer has never had any issues since. I should mention I am lead engine / performance tech at local dealership.
do you know if there is an updated version of the trans that addresses this clutch failure?

Looks like the current part number for the HP95 transmission is 68430191AB which says it was updated once but who knows when. Anyone know approximately when Stellantis switched from the AA part number?

Well my TRX owners, looks like it's my turn to see if there is a fix. I have a 2024 TRX that has made this noise between 1st and 2nd gear from day one. The dealership took my truck off my hands two days ago giving me a rental to use. They are working with Ram's Service Technical Assistance Resource (STAR) to run through diagnostics to find the issue. I will keep you updated on what they find, being a new TRX, I’m hoping they can find the issue.

Mine seems to be happening more and more often but it sounds like it’s from the front left wheel every time.

I’ve made a few threads on this noise with no input. Thought it was coming from the rear diff but realized it sounds more like it’s coming from the front. Possibly brakes? I’ve noticed it mostly does it when turning left on light acceleration. I’ve also had it happen when accelerating and going straight around 40 mph.

I was most definitely turning right when it happened to me. So far thats the only time

Remind me, how long would a transmission failure be covered under warranty for as far as time and or mileage? 3-36? 5-50? (Years - thousand miles)

Should be covered under the 5-60 powertrain warranty.
