Vibration/grinding on takeoff

My 2022 grand wagoneer does this also.

Well I went in last week to have them figure this out. They had the truck ALL DAY and came back with "no error codes and no obvious issues"... which is really frustrating as I GAVE them a video with the sound in it and told them how to perfectly replicate it. @RamCares this NEEDs to be figured out. 100+K for a truck and there shouldnt be this issue. Clearly, with FIVE PAGES OF COMMENTS on here it isnt "isolated". What do you need from me?
Hi, my truck is approved for a new transmission, as well as another few on this thread. The issue is involved with the B2 Clutch plate, as it fails an air test. Took about 5 trips to the dealer and over 6 months. But currently I am waiting for the transmission to arrive. They could be mistaken but they say the transmission going in is a “Buffed” zf8 from what comes with the truck.

Like they're putting a modified version of the stock transmission? Or Ram has changed internals for newer models/replacements? Also, do you have a service bulletin or the write up for this? Want to share with my dealer so they can make it happen.

I believe to my understanding it’s a different transmission than the one that came with the truck. I’ll get together the slips

Hi - hoping someone can help here. When I take off from a stop the truck randomly makes a stutter/grinding vibration for just a small amount of time . Maybe similar sound to when you hit a rumble strip. Seems possibly transmission related and only occurs from start. Happens randomly. Truck has 1500 miles on it.
I would take it to a dealer shop, hopefully one that “performance power” certified. ANYTHING that is done outside a certified Ram shop is just super risky as they are always looking for someone that lessens or void your warranty

We'd be happy to help! If anyone is experiencing this issue, please send us a direct message so that we can dig into this with you.

My truck has had this issue. I posted on it over a year ago. Took it to my local dealer with no luck. It’s becoming more prominent due to the cooler weather. What can be done to resolve?

Mine just came back again with the cooler weather also. I've printed all of the relevant posts on it that I could find and am going to set up an appointment to get it diagnosed and fixed... Also going to have the driveshaft replaced as it falls under the TSB impacted part numbers

Mine has always done it regardless of the temperature but its definitely more pronounced when its cold. I have about 12k more miles now than i did when i took it in for it last year when they were "unable to duplicate" (bs), and I'll be taking it back again soon and pushing hard for a replacement. @BlackoutTRX can you just post whatever additional info you have here instead of requesting DMs? You'll likely be helping many people!

Whelp. I’ve heard this twice now on my 21 with 28k miles now. Anyone have a good way to explain it all or is there a new star bulletin for it so they can at least do the correct testing per ksmopars? My dealership has been good about some things but it has taken bulletins for things like the driveline clunk @RamCares

Yes it is very clear. And sounds identical to what I am experiencing. Looking forward to what they say. Thanks for keeping us posted.
I have a 2023 TRX and it’s been doing the exact same thing that you were describing. I’ve made videos recording the sound and it’s identical to yours. I brought mine into the dealer. They were able to reproduce it, but not diagnose it. I’m wondering if anyone’s had any definitive diagnosis or fix for the problem

I just had my transmission replaced on warranty and have not heard the sound since.
That’s great news! Mine was in for service for about a week and a half trying to diagnose the problem. It’s the exact same problem as yours, and I assumed it was either the transmission of the transfer case. They were unable to say for sure what it was, and as you know, they won’t take apart the transmission to try and diagnose it. The part that I can’t wrap my head around is that it seems to go away once it warms up. How were you able to get Ram to pay for it?
