Vibration/grinding on takeoff

Wanted to share the video I took of the Tach as i was getting the sound... I'm not an expert, does that seem like a flare up? It feels like a crazy vibration like the clutch between first and second isn't grabbing. I'll be sharing this with Dodge as well as the dealership along with the star case for everyone once it's made.

Dropped the truck off today at the dealer. @RamCares has been communicating with me so I as soon as the star case is created they'll assign a specialist to me. I have a separate video of the spedometer..

The interesting thing is that in both videos the tach keeps moving but the speedometer stops during the sound (because the truck loses power) so it's very clearly a trans slippage issue.

@RamCares I have the exact issue. Went through you guys and the local dealership didn’t do shit attached it to an OBD and “no codes” no shit. Next closest is 3.5 hours and i Actually have a life and have to work.

Get your crap together and deal with this. It’s not a 40k vehicle it’s over 100k and po-dunk dealers don’t want to take it serious as they don’t have the techs who know what they are doing.

Share your star case with everyone so it can actually be managed. I’m not driving 3.5 hours so another dealer can attach to the OBD and tell me there are no codes. I know that. But clearly there is something major wrong with the transmission. So far not at all impressed with Stellantis and ram
I will defer to @RamCares to supply the star case number. The dealership told me they do not share star case numbers with customers, however, they did confirm that no star case for this issue exists before I requested it.
 
They lied. Many of us have already started a Star case. None of these are confidential.
I would need some answers then. My state's lemon law has precedent that if they don't fix it this time then they'll be on the hook for replacing the vehicle or refunding the purchase price of the vehicle. Either way i'm going to patiently wait for now.

I also felt it was weird that no star case exists. I believe that potentially only completed star cases are recorded? I wonder if there's a way to see if any submissions happened rather than completions.
 
Still have the issue also. Sent RamCares a direct message. I’m not bringing my truck into dealer until there’s a verified fix. Now that the weather is warming up it won’t happen as often and hard to replicate.
 
Look at this thread. More than 3 years of these issues one guy got his Tran's replaced. Also had a star case. Mine is 91101609 and when the odb scan showed nothing they closed it cause the dealer refused to see it again.
Update! Truck was there for a day before I got a call saying the transmission was ordered. It's on backorder, but they are releasing the truck to me in the meantime. I know everyone here has talked about having serious issues, but my experience has been very clean.

A few key things that I was told by the dealer really helped..

1. I had an open ram cares ticket (thanks @RamCares )
2. I had record of multiple visits to this dealer for the same issue with 2 separate attempts by the dealer to fix (1st being a relearn of the transmission, 2nd was pulling the pan and looking for damage)
3. I had 2 videos of the occurence of high quality, one showing the Tach and the other showing the speedometer clearly with my milage showing (so they know it's my truck).
4. The dealership is a power broker, i'm not sure if this is relevant, however, the dealership I go to has been incredibly supportive and knowledgeabe about my truck.

Update!

After reading @Sinfiny info I went back to the dealership and they have a new guy named Evan who totally has his shit together. He actually came for a ride with me and got to hear the noise between 1st and 2nd shifts on a turn under power and from a stop going straight. He was pretty shocked.

So it also happened that a stellantis tech was there doing training and he brought it all with all the info from here and others to him.

A new star case was opened and apparently things are moving along!

What a change one new guy with experience in the service bay can make!

Last night, I dropped my '22 off at the dealership for the transmission issue and the driveshaft replacement. This morning, I met the shop manager and took him for a ride in it to demonstrate the grinding of the transmission while the truck was still cold. Once we pulled out of the parking lot and I accelerated it immediately made the "wooden chair across a floor" grinding noise, he said, "Oh, wow... Ok". We went around the block - and he heard it a few more times before we got back to the dealership. I've got an open case with Ram Cares and am trying to get them and the dealership to sync up; I should hear more by EOD today... fingers crossed they quickly figure it out and I can finally get the problem fixed.
 
I’ve had mine in before for this issue. It seems more prevalent at cold temps after start ups. I’ve taken mine in with no duplications. About to take it this week for another check, driveshaft clunk, driver seat coming apart and rattle in dash.

We’ll see what happens (or doesn’t)
 
Theres a service bulletin about this issue (if its the issue im thinking of) Has to do with the driveshaft. Covered by warranty. Hit up your dealership and tell them you want it fixed.

For my 22, I've never had it happen more than once in a particular drive. When it's cold and I accelerate, usually uphill leaving my driveway, it does this grind during the 1-2 shift. And after that, I don't experience it again until the next time it's cold. I encounter a stop light about a 1/4 mile from my driveway. Even if I stop there and then accelerate again, it doesn't grind. There can't be much "warming up" that occurs in that quarter mile.

This is not the "clunk" as I've also had my drive shaft replaced for that already. This is 100% transmission grinding.
 
Update: Transmission is in, dropped off the truck this morning and got a loaner ram. They estimate it'll be done by Wednesday.
curious to know if there is an updated part number for the transmission or if we are going to get the same one that will just develop the same issue

I specifically asked, I have the paper showing the transmission ordered, I'll let you know the part number they actually installed.

I'm worried that in 20k miles i'll have the same problem.. The key that I will be following is that I won't be hammering on it until the trans is at least 130deg..

Really dumb this trans doesn't have a heater on it

Same exact thing for me. Maybe got it to do it twice one time. There was so much salt on roads this winter in NJ I only drove my beater so didn’t have to deal with it. Maybe some trucks are worse than others but sounds like same issue regardless.

Had the truck at the dealership all of last week, they replaced the driveshaft under the TSB (good deal), so I'm optimistic the rear end clunk stays away. The main reason for the visit was for the transmission issue - I printed out everything that I have found over the last two years about it, including screenshots of others paperwork from the dealership to help them cut through the clutter, it was pretty much was a waste of my time. The tech decided he wanted to remove the supercharger belt to see if that was the issue...big surprise, finding it wasn't. Then they did a transmission "re-learn", and got it back to me on Friday. I was able to drive it yesterday - no noise... This morning, the noise is right back, exactly how it was. I called and have a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks to drop the truck off and start the process over again, @RamCares.

Also, @RamCares some constructive criticism; if you are going to have a representative call to "make contact" before the appointment, please try to do so actually before the appointment not a few days after. Also, tell them to slow down when leaving their contact phone number and their ten digit extension - I had to listen to it 5x before getting it. It would be helpful if your system would actually let you say and then record what the issue is, and acknowledge that it heard something - the system was totally down. When the representative called me back to try to make contact the next day, they called 4x, back to back to back to back in two minutes, then sent an email saying they were going to close the case because they couldn't get ahold of me - not the best experience.
 
Every visit to the dealership is a waste of time. I took mine in at the end of February before my 3 year warranty was up for a list of issues including this grinding and an oil change. "Can't duplicate issue" for everything except the oil change.
When dropping it off I had been considering an extended warranty so I talked to the service writer. He said "oh yes, get it". But after I picked it up with nothing fixed, I realized what's the point. They don't fix anytime under warranty now, so what would change with an extended warranty. I have $3300 in my pocket for anything that might go wrong plus the power train warranty.
This truck rattles more than my 2018 Tahoe with double the miles. If only that 6.2L had a supercharger...hmmm
 
I took my truck in today for driveshaft clunk, recall and told them again about the noise at take off when cold. They called back this afternoon and told me my trans is cooked. Trans was making noise beside what I heard, fluid was burnt and black and 28k. I haven’t noticed any slippage or hesitation. Just the occasional noise that might happen twice a month.
Now I’ve got to take it back for them to tear the trans down to find the failure and submit to Chrysler for coverage.
 
If you are having a grinding / vibration from stop using 3/4 throttle when trans temp is below 120 and the grinding sounds like wooden chair sliding across the flow, it is an issue with the b2 clutch. I had a customer with very similar issue, took awhile to figure out, but it was in the trans. replaced his trans under warranty with new and no more problems. I will add, I am the lead performance tech at my dealership, and we are a power broker dealer. Dodge Of Burnsville, Burnsville, Mn.

I am having this issue. Sent you a DM as I am local and it would be great to finally resolve this.
