Vibration/grinding on takeoff

Remind me, how long would a transmission failure be covered under warranty for as far as time and or mileage? 3-36? 5-50? (Years - thousand miles)
Should be covered under the 5-60 powertrain warranty.

3–year or 36,000–mile Basic Limited Warranty.

A powertrain warranty is a type of limited warranty that covers the cost of repair or replacement for parts of the powertrain, such as the engine and transmission.

Performance wise what is happening to the transmission??

Hey all, wanted to update everyone on this. Thanks to @ksmopars and @254tnv I have been approved for a complete transmission swap. They said the clutches did indeed fail/slip. They said they’re putting in a demon transmission, which I assume is more buffed anyway. It’s on back order so it won’t be in for a while.

Sweet so they are taking away your awd??? Sounds like maybe your service advisor is not so bright or just wants you to feel good...

Demons use the 8hp90 which is rated for higher HP but is rwd only.... our trucks use the 8hp95...

😂😂 he must be mistaken then, definitely do not want RWD only. He said it was a demon style so maybe there’s a buffed version of 8HP95?

I’ve wondered if maybe it’s converter chatter… maybe there is a different torque converter?

Not sure how one would check that… just post up your final print out, that would be super helpful… maybe they can give you an estimate with parts list before???

Yes I’ll post the actual invoices, transmission was $24K (CAD) alone

The new transmission for my truck just showed up today after 2months on backorder and it’s getting done tomorrow! It’s been A LONG 2.5years dealing with this and arguing with the service department over and over again. Thanks again @ksmopars..your info definitely got me over the finish line with this!

Ok so this thread contained all the info related to this correct?

I am bringing mine to the dealer in 2 weeks with the “b2 clutch issue needs an air test” as this stuff all printed out.

Is that all I need?

It took forever to get Ram to approve the test on the transmission that found the b2 clutch issue. Once they did the test there was about of week of back and forth with Ram Tech Support and then the transmission replacement was initiated. Good luck with that!

Got my truck back today. Nothing really to report from the old noise standpoint..we’ll see the next time I drive it when I can replicate the conditions for it to happen. I’ve attached a photo of the repair order that shows the parts that were replaced.

the trans part number ending in AB suggests it is an updated part, at least from what was originally specified when the TRX was first released. I'll have to check mine and see if its AA or AB

Or they just changed the part number like they do routinely

I've not heard of this. why would they change the part number if it wasnt updated in some capacity? Literally the only times I've seen updated part numbers after 10+ years of Ram ownership is after a change is applied

Happens all of the time. Why I couldn’t tell you but in 30+ years of Mopar vehicle ownership they routinely change part numbers for the same part with zero changes.
