Transmission (lack of) maintenance and failures…tip of the iceberg?

Oil and tranny fluids have a decent shelf life. If you can keep it in the house you probably can get 5 years! I have kept Amsoil in the garage for 3-4 years. It still looked good. (10w-30 for the lawn equipment and 0w-16 for my dad's car...so that I can do the work for him when he stops by) Brake Fluid does not last long. Max 12 months if factory sealed. If it is opened. maybe 2 weeks.
is ur garage climate controlled and air purified like OntheReel's?? 😂

I wish. I don't think in our climates it would be cost effective to try and insulate and A/C a garage.
Try getting and industrial size dehumidifier and many things in your life will improve.

Even 80 degrees doesn't feel all that bad when the humidity is 20% or less.

FTR in the garage 🤣

With 2 - 2 car oversized garages. near Houston. ... I don't think I can take a chance and sell a kidney to pay that electric bill :)

It’s heating that’s the bigger challenge (and expense) up here. 15 degrees out now and garage is holding 60. Pretty much where I like it.

I'm in the outskirts of houston, installed a 2 ton mini split ac unit in my 25'x30' shop and it'll keep it cool. My shop does have 3/8" thick insulation sheets on the walls and ceiling, but on a 90-100 degree day, it only takes about 15-20 minutes to get the temp in the shop down into the 70s, which is where I like it. Just having the insulation makes a huge difference whether it's hot or cold outside.

I had a bit of a scare today when finding the furnace inoperative, with lows around 5 degrees in the forecast.

Not that there's a whole lot of things in the garage that couldn't survive getting cold, bit it would really suck if the floor heat froze and cracked the floor.

Thankfully I got the furnace working again, so 45 degrees it is. Until the system acts up again.

After my kids are off to college. The plan: build up in the Conroe area on acre plus. 1 story home "simple home". 80W x 80L x 20H Muller Steel building/garage all insulated....call it done.

does anyone know if there are upgraded aftermarket valve bodies for the transmission or just replace with factory OEM?

Thanks

FYI, HPL is running a 20% off deal (have to add to cart for discount). ~$13.50 a quart is cheaper than you can get the OEM fluid and this stuff is the real deal with a base oil that will perform better in both super cold and high heat conditions.

I may have also bought some…like 4 gallons…of their 5w50 SuperCar engine oil to try out.
Can you comment on why you chose this vs Amsoil/Redline? (Full disclosure, have followed all your suggestions on engine oil, more looking for ideology peace of mind on the trans fluid choice as it’ll be in there for a lot longer)

I consider the HPL, Red Line and Amsoil Signature to be pretty much equal based on their chemistries, and the experiences I’ve had with them in the past. There was no real ideological or scientific reason I went with HPL vs Red Line in this truck. Have D6 in another 8HP and I’m equally satisfied with that, so I could really go either way.

Wasn’t a consideration for me, but for those still under warranty the HPL would be a little more appealing. Just because it closer mimics the green color of the factory fluid vs the usual “ATF red” color of Red Line and Amsoil. Won’t immediately signal that someone has been in there before.

anyone here just tell their dealership to perform this for them? How was your experience? im at 35k on my 22 and have not touched my transmission.
