Tonneau Covers?

Im interested in that one too, probably have to get rid of rambar... where did you get it and how much did it cost? Are these hard to self install?
I bought the ram bar as an accessory from a local ram dealership ($1,100), I ordered the retrax Pro XR on Amazon ($1,900).

Having my bed sprayed with Line-X first, then I will be installing the accessories above.

Installation it’s not that difficult if you are comfortable with tools and handy in general.

I had great luck with a Truxedo Lo Pro on my last truck (6+ years) so went with that on this one, too. May add a sport bar or bed rails and this will work well with either of those.

Following also... Can’t wait to see if it fits. Have RamBar on build.

Quick update!

I have installed the ram bar on my TRX and successfully installed the retrax Pro XR tonneau cover and it fit perfectly and looks amazing!

There are some minor install details and nuances that I need to share so everyone knows what they are getting into. My truck is currently at Colorado clear bra getting paint protection film and ceramic clearcoat put on the truck. I didn’t take good post install photos so I will take some this Friday when I pick up my truck.

I will update this thread with before and after install photos and articulate the details and nuances so folks are aware.

BEFORE you order your cover here is the major nuance to be AWARE of....

Here is a pic of my install of the Rambar before the tonneau was installed:
Notice that there are a total of 4 bolts (2 black and 2 silver). This is because when buying the Rambar from Mopar the install and instructions mount the Rambar with 2 black bolts towards the end and aslo uses the stake post of the truck to mount the other end closer to the cab.

Here is another picture of how the Rambar comes installed from the factory:

Notice there are a total of 4 black bolts (1 on end of inside bedrail and the other 3 bolts on TOP of the bedrail.

I'm assuming they made the install modification due to adding more rigidity and structure to the mount with the assumption that people will be jumping this truck. Not sure why the install from the factory on the TRX is different from the install from mopar accessories installed by yourself.

I took the liberty of adding 2 more bolts (silver in my pic) with a custom fabricated bracket behind the silver bolts to give extra strength and rigidity so I can jump without worrying about my Rambar falling off.

The point I want to make is NOTICE how my install has all the truck rail bolts on the INSIDE of the bedrail and will NOT get in the way of the tonneau cover install. Where the factory TRX Rambar install has 3 black bolts ON TOP of the bedrail and WILL get in the way of the tonneau install. You may have to do some more custom work getting the tonneau to fit over the factory installed Rambar bolts that sit on top of the truck bedrails.

Please be aware if you have the factory Rambar installed.

Good luck to all..... and will post pics of the final install later this week.

I just installed the ReTrax Pro (Delivered from Just Bolt-On Performance Parts, Thanks Johnny) Was easy to install. The adjustments to make sure it sits perfect and was centered took a bit of doing. Probably just my pickiness of wanting it exact. The fit is better than expected, I did not have to cut or remove or make any adjustments to the factory installed tie down rails. I had read on here a post from someone stating I would have to cut 4 inches of the rails? I also still have access to the front Bed rail holes on the top of the truck bed which was a bonus. her are a couple pics...

Rumor has it, WeatherTech had a legit one.

Real tight and real flush looking.

Here are some photos with the retrax pro XR installed with the Rambar.

Notice in the photos I added some additional foam padding underneath the tonneau cover so it transitions nicely sitting on top of the rambar and on top of the truck bed rails. This is because the Rambar sticks up almost 1/8 of an inch on top of the bed rail and wanted the tonneau cover to have a clean look.

If you zoom in closely there’s about 3/8 of an inch of gap between the Rambar posts and the edge of the tonneau cover.

lease be aware
Is the bar exactly the same? As far as looks, height, and built?

Is there any reason outside of cost not to get a powered one?

The power operated covers add a little more weight and cost, and some of them do not have an emergency open option if there is a power loss. They also add a little more difficulty to the install if you are doing it yourself.

Definitely think the power option would be convenient

Looks like it was made to fit a tonneau cover nicely!

I wonder if adding extra foam padding under the tonneau cover rails would make it work with the "Bolts" on top as well.

I love my retrax pro cover on my gmc sierra, i can take my yakima rails/bike rack on and off while leaving everything under the cover secured and relatively weather-proof.
