Tazer DT

Weird observation, but if I changed my tire size to anything over 35.30”, the parking sensors would become “unavailable”. Luckily though, my 325/60R20 BFG K02’s are 35.30” tall. If anyone’s having this issue, put it on 35.30” or less & see if your parking sensors come back on.
I had this issue after installing 37s. Hope there is a fix from RAM in the future. For now, guess I’m gonna have to get used to the speedo being off!

All regular features work when disconnected. Only there live features require the Tazer to be plugged in.
Define “regular” features?

folding mirrors is a Regular function according to the instructions ... but for me it only works when the Tazer is connected. Switching off the fog lights when switching to high beam - works for me without a Tazer. Turning off the belt buzzer - it works without Tazer for me. The only thing that doesn't work (and should) is the automatic folding of the mirrors.
I don't want to leave the Tazer plugged in in the car because I have an alarm installed and I don't know how the whole system will behave with the Tazer plugged in.

Anything that isn't a live feature. The folding mirrors should work but for some reason it isn't for some.... I'll test mine later today to confirm.

Thanks! Yup, without the mirrors folding though…it stays plugged in for me.

today I tried to set it up again, I rebooted twice in a row and I was out of range of the car for 5 minutes with the key.
Mirror folding still doesn't work ... I tried to keep the Tazer plugged in permanently, then automatic mirror folding worked, alarm worked normally (I'm surprised, because the alarm should have protection against copying / simulation, but also against changing the control unit).
The only problem I have with the connected Tazer is that the daytime running lights are orange all the time when I have the headlights on, which is illegal in our country. Please someone don't know where it turns off in the menu?

There’s a new update getting released this week that will allow you to change the DRL’s to white, amber and off.

Do you mean even newer version than 18.1.0?
Do you know if the function for activating / deactivating adaptive cruise control will also be added to the Tazer ?I ask because I don't have an adaptive cruise control in my car, but the button part has already come to me from the USA, I just need to activate it in the system and I don't want to give more money for Alpha OBD anymore.

No, 18.1.0 is the current update. There is a new one coming this week. Not sure on the adaptive cruise…. My guess is no.

Tested mine and it’s just like yours. Folding mirrors required Tazer to be plugged in.

I looked it up in the latest firmware manual 18.1.0. Folding mirrors fall into the "live" category, so it's clear ...

I wish there was a device like the Canopener from 4dtech for us where you could purchase a device that you plug into the OBD2 port to enable something. Buy the device with up to ~3 selectable things (amber halos, mirror fold, etc.) for ~$150, plug it in and it enables the features, then remove it. Plug it in again and it disables those features.

I’ve been enjoying the 2 wheel mode for about 4,000 miles so far. Have beat it silly with no issues except abnormal rear tire wear and rubber build up on my rear mud flaps.
Once I get my level 1 I'm trying 2wd mode. Is it safe for the transmission? Not buying for mileage but if I take it on a trip does it get better mileage in 2wd?

Safe for the transmission. Nobody seems to know for sure if this is hard on the tcase or not but the few reported issues was with the tcase. Fuel economy isn’t enough of a difference to notice.

Thanks I meant to put tcase but had a brain fart LOL. I wonder if it just doesnt get its proper oiling or ? I imagine if it was going to hurt anything it wouldnt be possible to make it go into 2wd but ya never know

When the front tires aren’t spinning, the forward clutches in the tcase aren’t getting lubricated and therefore overheat. This is why ZAutomotive warns against running on a 2wd dyno. Normal driving around in rwd should be fine.

No issues for me with the transfer case…so far. I’ve heard lots of stories about the Trackhawk failures but according to BorgWarner tech support when I called, this transfer case has a 2wd mode and thus with the Tazer putting it in 2wd mode (it even shows 2wd on the UConnect screen) I figured I’ll roll the dice. What the hell, the burnouts are fun and I only live once. Lol

Mpg….no noticeable difference. The only reason to do it is the fun factor. Is it a risk? No idea and decided I don’t care. Lol

Thanks for explaining that, it's under warranty anyway so I'm sure I'll try it lol
