Tazer DT

Beyond pissed. Haven't had a single issue with this thing. Last night updated to newest firmware. This morning reinstalled and married. Noticed right away my fogs would not work, no matter how I toggled the settings. Messaged Boosted. Immediate and knowledgeable response as always. Suggested I perform a fresh install. Was snowing here, so I put it off till tomorrow. Had to pick my gf up at airport tonight. Thank God I am always early for most things. When I went to leave my house I now have this flashing brake lights thing going on when I shift into Drive. Unmarried. Uninstalled. Going back to previous FW tonight. If that doesn't work flawlessly, I am smashing this thing. I have a video of the error. Can iPhone videos play here? I'll try to upload in a second.
I'm with you...beyond pissed. My TRX is a '21 and I purchased the Tazer DT a few weeks ago and just got around to trying to install it. I went to the Z Automotive website and upgraded the firmware to 18.1.2, then I followed the instructions to the letter. I was able to get to the Marry screen but when I attempted to marry the Tazer, nothing happened. I disconnected it, started my truck, turned off my truck, reconnected it and the same thing happened. Then, my center screen went blank and now it won't turn on. The truck starts and runs fine, but I'm now looking at a big black screen. Several attempts to reboot were also unsuccessful and when the Tazer is connected, it has a flashing red light. As far as I'm concerned, this thing is a POS!!!

This thing is not a POS. And the folks at Zautomotive are super responsive. Has your truck gotten a Uconnect update recently? Black screen will disappear soon.

Regarding the functionality, are you sure you are using the right controls? And not accessing the shortcuts/ hot keys?

We'll have to agree to disagree. I've sent an email to Z Automotive and I'll wait for their reply before I make any further comments on their product.

As I mentioned in my post, I followed their directions to the letter. Obviuosly, I did it correctly because I was very easily able to get to the "Marry" prompt. When I select "Marry" nothing happens. I've tried this several times and the only thingbthat happens with the Tazer DT is that the red light starts to flash intermittently. After 5 on/off cycles, the middle screen powered on. I am using the correct controls.

I tried the same thing and got the same result. The Tazer will not marry to my truck, and the red light on the Tazer is still flashing.
When did you purchase your Tazer? If you only have the red flashing light, sounds like one of the connectors isn’t plugged in all the way. There was a batch of units that had a casting flaw that prevents the connectors to seat properly. Look in to the connector ports on your Tazer. The very bottoms of each port needs to be squared off and not have a small bulge on one side.

Check that and report back. I’m going to make it my mission to make you love your Tazer. 😎

I'd like to mention that @Boosted has been great and the issues with Tazer have nothing to do with BrawlerFab. He sells them, but doesn't make them and has helped/plugged in wherever possible.
I appreciate the kind words. I only sell products I believe in and have built relationships with my vendors. Because of that, I truly want everyone to have good experiences with these products. I’m glad you were able to get your issues sorted out.

Thank you,
Bill

Well...you may be on to something! I purchased my Tazer a few months ago and as I recently had surgery, I just got around to installing it yesterday. I looked very closely at my Tazer and found that the larger connector was not seating properly. I used a very small razor knife to square the port and wonder of wonders, the red light stopped blinking and I was able to marry the Tazer to my truck! I haven't tried to make any changes yet, but I'm planning to do so later today! Maybe I will learn to love it after all.

I am new to the forum and new to the TRX world (I have a gen 1 Raptor as well). The TRX I purchased was 500 miles old, has a level 2 build, and had 37s installed. After going through the electronics, I found that I am unable to activate the front and rear parking sensors - the dash screen says unavailable. I took the vehicle to the dealer who indicated that a Tazer was installed, presumably to compensate for the taller tires. They also indicated that the Tazer might be disabling the front and rear sensors. Any suggestions as to how to resolve? Thanks in advance for any advice. Love the truck (and the more frequent trips to the gas station!)!

Welcome to the group!

Yes, the Tazer was used to correct tire size and speedometer however it is the body control module that is disabling the sensors as it can’t compensate for the height difference. Using the Tazer, set tire size to 35 and know that you will be about 1.5 mph off at 60 mph.

Thanks much for the quick response!
