SRT Oil Filter thread

Sorry stated that wrong. Not srt filter

51372 out flows and has higher bypass than srt filter.
When i called wix the rep ssid he doesn't even have information for the micron. Which means they dont hold it to a tight standard.

There is a thread somewhere on here about filter comparisons.

If wix makes them amsoil (used to) sell it. I saw it the other day but can’t find it now. Can’t look up under trx but under any of the other hellcat models(it was there). I would think the amsoil one either way would be a good alternative to use.

Edit: amsoil lists filter for trx now, but it’s not the same as all the other hellcat motors. Find that odd.

All others EA011-EA
Amsoil filters are mad by wix and Champion.
For the record.

They usually have a part number stamped on bottom inside of canister or by the seal.

Cross reference that and it will say who made it. Its a completely different number than the wix one.

The Amsoil filter for the TRX is made by Champion in Mexico. The K&N and Royal Purple are also made by Champion, but in the US. The K&N is cellulose but the RP and Amsoil are damn near identical with synthetic media. Slightly lower efficiency rating on the RP but still very good, cheaper and US made. Hence my statement about the Amsoil being overpriced for what it is.

Fram has such a bad reputation it's hard to imagine buying them. and by the case they're about $4.50 a piece. you really think they're okay ?
If you would have told me 20 years ago I would be putting Fram and Pennzoil in a $^#&^%@ dollar truck I would have thought you were crazy. I can't argue with results though, by objective measures these both seem to be very good products.. I think its the best filter (?) available on paper and while you can find better oils, if you aren't doing extended OCIs I don't think you're going to see much (if any) benefit. I'm far from an expert, this is just my synopsis from reading waaaay too many threads on here and BiTOG..

It wouldn't be the first time a brand name went to crap but turned it around. I used to believe you always got what you paid for but experience has shown me often you just pay more for the same thing with a different sticker on it.

Assuming the Fram meets warranty requirements, and I can't see why it wouldn't I'd try them.

So interestingly enough, I had the same thought.. The op manual says the filter must meet SAE-USCAR-36, but I could not find this anywhere on any of the aftermarket or RAM oil filters. I emailed Fram asking about it, this was their response. (in case anyone else is curious)

It's good to know they even responded back, and the answer seems good. they are American made and that's reassuring as well.

Seem like they're worth a try to me.

Can't say that I love them, and I did live without for several years.

But once spoiled by how quick and easy they are to use, and how much clean-up time they can save, I wouldn't want to be without.

Picture, if you will, a vertical 20 gallon hydraulic tank with a 1-inch drain in the center, a pipe plug. Kinda like an oversize jerry can in shape. There's about a 2-1/2 inch gap below it.

Used to lose the majority of the fluid until getting, and carefully shaping, one of those green ones. Still lose a few gallons as the fluid comes out quite fast, bit it's a lot better.

In comparison, a few drops from a car's oil filter is negligible, but I still use them for that, too.
Those green flexible "funnels" work well for that.

Then you would probably be better off buying ones in the $10 to $25 range.
I didn't exactly shop at Neiman Marcus when I bought mine.

Pardon my ignorance. I did a search on Amazon for this and saw

$19.99
EWK Flexible Oil Funnel Reusable General Oil Change Draining Tool Spill-Free Oil Filling https://a.co/d/6Wq61fQ

$54.12
ARES 56045 – 2-Piece Large and Medium Universal Flexible Oil Funnel Set - Spill-Free Oil Filling - Easy to Use 1-Person Design – Fits Multiple Heavy-Duty Applications https://a.co/d/j1W20vs

Is the latter the aforementioned $42 option? Looks like raised to $54 now?

Would it make sense to just get two of the former / $19/ea?

anyone try a fram Hp16 ?

I assume you all replace the crush washers under the drain plugs. Is there a size (or part number) for those?

So, you just reuse them? Interesting.

(Thanks for the quick reply.)

Yup. The rubber seems pretty resilient. I still wound up swapping to a magnetic plug on the oil pan, and then replaced that with a ValvoMax. Just some other options you’d have.

Whoa! ValvoMax is bad-ass!

I need one... what is the TRX oil plug thread to order the proper fit? :)

Gotcha. I just ordered the EA011…

Decided to stock the garage for the year… filters and oil for 4 vehicles…

Wife is going to yell at me in 3…2…1….

(Wait until I tell her to call each dealer and ask for a quote on each vehicles oil change…. I still won’t get a “foot rub” in thanks)
the filter gaskets can dry out over time and leak!
