SRT Oil Filter thread

the filter gaskets can dry out over time and leak!
Why must you break my heart… cmon lol!

But seriously though, thanks for the heads up.

Amazon sells the "SRT" Mopar Filters ............ Easy Peasy, and delivered to your Door.

P.S. I am NOT an Amazon Shareholder nor Sponser. But, I do own a Ram TRX & ordered these items from them. No Problem!

But are they the real thing, or Chinese copies like is common with filters for Rams with Cummins engines?
Some things just aren't worth saving a few bucks on, I think, and filters are one of them.

Make sure it's Sold and Shipped by Amazon.com and you'll be golden. It's the unknown 3rd parties (even when shipped by Amazon) that sell the counterfeit goods. That said, there was no upcharge for the 041 installed instead of the standard filter on the Jeep 392 when I've brought it in for oil changes.

- That is a Valid Point! Thank you.
- I have no interest in purchasing non-OEM parts for any of my vehicles.
- Conversely, just about everything American's purchase, seems to originate from China [or elsewhere overseas].
- I did make the assumption that it was an OEM part number that I ordered & received.
- FYI: It used to be it had a 'taint' if it was from Japan, when I was a Kid. Today, Japan makes some of the best products.
- My personal observation is that its ostensibly more a matter of 'cost of labor' by Manufacturers to provide various parts.
- Nonetheless, I'd always rather pay more for the correct part, than pay less for a counterfeit and/or a 'problem'.

Thanks for the reply.

JC, do you have the Amazon link for these oil filters? Wanna make sure I've got what I need.

Never mind if I'd look the original SRT filter is linked by OP. I'm getting old and it sucks.

The WIX 57063 is the same filter. only difference is the writing on it and the price.

Are they real or fake? From a reputable dealer or a seller that also offers diapers and such?
Oh come on now, diapers and filters do a lot of the same thing! 😁

Seriously though, I never order filters through Amazon anymore. Last batch of SRT filters I got via them were genuine but heavily rusted. I ordered a set of the Ford Racing filters through Summit Racing, and those came in great shape.

Real,mopar mo-041
What are you basing that on? A fake would also say Mopar and MO-041 on it. The crooks aren't that stupid.

Don't know if it's a thing with basic oil filters yet, but there are lots of of bogus Ram fuel filters on Amazon. On the positive side, many of them introduce air into the fuel system and that stops the engine. Much harder to tell if an oil filter doesn't work.

Yes, I still occasionally buy filters on Amazon, but only if the seller is a legit CJDR dealership, like Steve White's.

It's a damn oil filter, and Amazon. You don't like send it back.

Umm...if I don't like it?

Since any differences in the packaging would be minute and hard to spot, that pretty much leaves the filter itself. Should I cut it open and compare the innards to a known good filter, or run if for a while and then see if an analysis shows anything unusual compared to a good filter?

To me it's just easier to get the filters from a known source. Which could include Amazon.

Looked up the Amazon link posted earlier. You're not the only one who got unusable filters.

"Originally I was impressed with the filter. Mopar SRT OEM packaging etc. I finally went to put this filter on my 6.4L 392, and I immediately noticed what looked like metal balls/flakes on the inside face of the filter (which were wiped off prior to the picture). Then I noticed an irregular pink gummy (rtv) type gasket oozing from the back side of the filter- see pic. There IS NO WAY I'd put this on my beloved car. Do Not Buy, I'm guess they're selling the factory seconds/defective parts."

This buyer was one of several unhappy ones and after checking who the seller is, I can guess why. "Auto Parts Wholesale" doesn't seem to exist anywhere but on Amazon. Also, there are some odd statements by the seller in the Product Information.
