SRT Oil Filter thread

I dunno, looks legit to me and I don't see anything oozing or balls like you described.
I checked them both and it looks good.
I have seen worse at Walmart.

If you can tell the fakes from the real thing with ease, good for you.

But now that you mention it, I wouldn't buy filters from Walmart either.

I have cut open the 4 mo-899 filters I bought at walmart(I did look inside them before purchasing), they all looked the same as the one from the dealership after being used.

Could be hit or miss though, but this has been my experience with the mopar filters I purchased there

I don't have the knowledge or equipment to tell the good from the bad ones. Instead I rely on people who do, and can point out the (often very subtle) differences.

Again, to me it's just easier to buy from trusted sources, and again, I don't even know if fake MO-899 or MO-041 filters are a thing yet, but I'd rather not chance it.

The one on Amazon that you can be sure is real (sold/shipped by Amazon.com) is $25ish which is outlandish price gouging. My dealer always has them in stock, I use it on both the 392 and TRX, and they don't charge me extra even when I use Jeep Wave or the Mopar oil change coupons. If I wanted to buy it from them to do my own oil change the cost was $18 IIRC.
