S&B Cold Air Intake Ram TRX

We had a few days of rain a few weeks ago. That’s when I noticed it. A lot more water intrusion inside the engine compartment. The water trails under the hood showed that it was entering along the entire front edge underneath the hoods rubber seal. I modified my factory cover and reinstalled it. After 3 days of rain last week, no more water intrusion along the hoods rubber seal. Actually, the entire shroud was still clean and shiny from the last time I detailed under the hood.

I had code P2629 pop up over the weekend. It is technically a O2 sensor error, but a few folks on the regular ram forums have had issues with a oil catch can not keeping vacuum. As the S&B is the only mod I have on my truck, I assumed it might be the vacuum tube not being on tight enough. I adjusted the tube to fit over the OEM fitting deeper and am currently seeing if the code goes away. Just an FYI for those that get the same code that the fitting might need to be adjusted.

. . .yeah, the hose S&B supplies does not necessary fit curve-for-curve the OEM hose - for sure push that hose all the way up on it.

. . .I was worried about that, but after using a high-pressure washer and foam cannon - I had very little to no water egress into the engine compartment led-alone in the S&B airbox.

Ditto, mine seals nicely.

S&B did just send me a new drivers side shroud. My original would not line up with the grill, and had about an 1/8” gap above the drivers side headlight. The bad mold is probably why I had more water intrusion.

. . .I did the same last week. Correct about an 1/8 gap. Was impressed with how easy S&B made that right and no-hassle getting it to me at no charge.

OK, so after reading through 9 pages of posts, you guys have convinced me to get a CAI. I was talking to my wife about it and she immediatly said that she'd buy one for me. Shecwants to hear morecwhine! Damn, I love that gal!

Now, the question is...S&B or aFe? Convince me!

Whichever one is cheaper is what I would do since it looks like they both make roughly the same power and same whine. Have the S&B but plenty of folks happy with AFE.

Personally, I like and went with the aFe because without any trimming it keeps the stupid Easter egg under the hood in tact lol

S&B: single filter element, fewer points of connection (aka failure)

This came out great. The S&B is miles ahead of BWoody in fit n finish and installation instructions. Thanks HeliPilot for the idea to trim the factory plastic.

Looking to order an intake today. I have followed the intake section and conversations for months. Anyone recommend somewhere to purchase one of the best priced units ASAP? I was really leaning towards the S&B but I’d take an AFE if it were cheaper and in stock.

Ordered mine through these guys, they had them in stock. Give them a call tomorrow and see if they have anymore. Ask for Trevor, tell him Kris sent you
