S&B Cold Air Intake Ram TRX

It’s actually getting it that’s the problem. I’ve had one on order for ages. No movement even though the Mopar site says in-stock.

I ordered it 5 min ago it will be at my dealer by 8am tomorrow morning.

My wife surprise ordered me a S&B intake for my truck the other day, it showed up today hence why I jumped into this thread today. I hope the new rad shroud cover is the right one so I can cut it up and store the original with the rest of the intake parts. I'll report back tomorrow to confirm that the part number I found and posted is indeed for the "Easter egg" cover.

Looks good. How are you liking the whine?
The coolant level looks a little concerning though

Thanks! I like it, it's definitely more noticeable. Very prominent in sport mode. I do have SLP's and clamps over the mesh on it also. The exhaust notes are pretty strong too, which may overpower a bit of the supercharger whine noise. As for the coolant level it looks low but my driveway slopes down towards the road so the coolant sits towards the back of the tank and I was standing on a three stepper ladder while taking that picture so it's a downward shot.

I have headers and deleted the resonators and it still made quite a difference in the sound, I could actually hear it again
Oh ok. Didnt know if you had noticed, just wanted to point it out in case you hadn't

Yes, thank you. I check the fluid levels atleast once a week out of habit. Were the headers a PITA to do? Did you do cat delete or aftermarket cats?

That's a good habit.
The headers are not for the novice mechanic
I did the american racing headers, they come with a down pipe that connects to the stock cats, you have to cut off about 13 inches of pipe on both sides and the down pipe fits perfectly in place. So no delete or aftermarket cats...maybe after warranty runs out and I start doing more mods and tuning, then I'll do the cat delete

Yeah I hear ya once my warranty is up I'll be doing some good mods to my rig.

Wife that orders a "surprise" intake for your TRX = definite keeper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She definitely is! She bought me the SLP's for Christmas too. I can honestly say that in the 15 years we've been together she feeds my car/truck addiction more than my buddies do lol.

UPDATE: The part number I supplied for the Easter egg rad cover is correct. The part came in this morning but unfortunately was damaged, the dealer ordered another one and I should have it tomorrow.

super silly question...did your mpg change?

This^^^ right here lol. In all seriousness though I took a look at my average for today and with pulling my single axle 12' enclosed trailer around loaded with tools, materials and ladders I averaged 3.4km per liter. Not sure what that would be for you guys miles per gallon?

Fortunate man! I’m hoping my wife gets the bug. Every time I buy something for my cars she gives me a little grief. Example, “how much did that transmission cost? You know we need to finish the basement.” I just laugh and say the kids have to eat.

Is anyone else really disappointed with the quality of the hardware supplied with the S&B intake? Leaving aside the cheesy worm clamps, either they routered the holes in the back of the intake box that the bolts go through to attach it to the cross brace much too large or the supplied washers are much too small. I can't even snug up the nuts or the washers slide right through the holes. Of course it's now after 9pm so I have to wait until morning to go pick up some larger washers. Oh and who the heck knows if it's going to line up properly in the truck because there's so much room in those holes to put the intake on crooked, too high or too low. I guess I'll have to put it in and see and then adjust it and put the filter in after it's mounted to the truck.

Also maybe put a f@$%ing warning on the instructions to be careful removing the IAT sensor from the stock intake tube, the positioning tab snapped clean off mine, luckily the local dealer has one on the shelf. Ok that one's on me but seriously, put a note in the instructions... ugh

Agreed about the hardware. And I also broke that tab off my sensor. Amazon bailed me out of that one.

When you get the fender washers…paint them, and the bolts black. Helps them not stick out like a sore thumb through the window.

Good call, I was also going to mention the shiny silver washer/bolt heads inside that nicely designed glassed intake but figured I had already whined enough! :ROFLMAO:

Local dealer parts was already closed but my buddy was still there, looked up the part for me and came up with 5149279ac for the IAT sensor if anyone else runs into the same issue.
