Official Driveline Clunk Service Repair

Here is why they could no longer find the Star Bulletin. My truck was built on 2/28/2022 and the cut off is trucks built before 02/21/2022...so weird because the tech was able to duplicate the issue so not sure why they chose that as a cut off date.
Did they verify the drive line number? If you would like I can check into it. I just need the last 8 digits of the Vin.

Thanks!

Looks like you may room to have them escalate yours. While, yes technically you fall outside the build date limit by just a few days your truck does appear to have one of the listed drive line numbers (53011135AE per catalog listing based on vin) and the dealer has verified the clunk. They may have to go through a "normal" diagnosis/fix before they can open a Star Case and/or contact their Stellantis/FCA rep. If @RamCares would like to step in and provide clarification and or additional support it would be appreciated.

Hey Alienhead,

We definitely appreciate you tagging us in this! At this time, this Star Case is no longer available because it has been made into Technical Service Bulletin 03-004-22. If you're needing this repair done, bring that number to your dealer!

Callie thanks for the quick response. The issue is that his production date falls about 7 days out of the TSB's stated coverage. However the dealer has confirmed the clunk exists with this vehicle. The dealer has declined to pursue the TSB process do the date of manufacture. I agree a Star case may not be the correct course.

@bradphish From what I understand the normal course of action for this concern when it is not covered by the TSB is to replace the drive line. The new drive line should come with the lube installed. However they are currently on back order. My best advise is to check in with another dealer that has experience pursuing difficult warranty situations.

Great, thanks Alienhead. I have a great relationship with my dealer and will share this info with him.

Heads up for everyone. Went in today to get the parts ordered and the bulletin was updated yesterday. Included any truck built on or before Feb 5,2022.

My issue is this is at best a short term fix. I have to re-grease mine at almost every oil change and after a couple thousand miles it's starting to come back. I'm sure this super special grease in the kit will likely not make much difference in longevity.

What kind of grease are you using?

Klubber Grease? Must be made from the blubber of endangered baby seals...

So the real question is how long will the fix last, and is this a temporary fix until a new driveline is released? Maybe a new driveline for 2023?

So I had taken my truck in back on Aug 3 so they could verify "the clunk", which they did and ordered the kit. At the time the info was the kit wouldn't be availble until after Oct 1. After seeing info on the forum that some have already gotten the part in I called the dealer and surprised when they said they had gotten the part in but hadn't called me to let me know. So it goes in next Thurs to have it done.

Thanks to those on here that posted about already receiving their parts for this. Hopefully this is a permanent solution.
