Official Driveline Clunk Service Repair

I had my TRX in the shop for an oil change and a few other items Friday. I gave them the star case and they echoed the 10/1 date. Said they placed the order for the kit, but to call them on the 1st. I have 25,000 miles and have had the clunk since about 5,000. Can’t wait for this to be fixed!

Please let us know what the part # is for the TRX Driveshaft Grease Kit . Thank you 😊

Well, I just got off the phone with my buddy in parts at Covert here in Austin. They are showing this fix not available until October under this part number.

Yup that’s the full kit that is posted on the thread. You can also get the smaller grease kit. But like you said…. Neither available until at least 10/1

Here’s another thread on it where both kits are mentioned:

I sent this info to my dealer a little bit ago (I included a pic of my driveline). I still have to bring it in to be verified, and the soonest appointment is 8/29. Was king of hoping I could just talk myself into being on their list. It's a good service department, but the location is kind of a pain in the butt.

I tried the same thing with my dealer last week and they made me bring it in for them to "verify" the problem. So I did and now it's a waiting game until they can get the parts.

I personally would not get just the grease. The clamps are one time use and if you damage the boot your going to replace it as well. I would save the effort and let the dealer do it under warranty with kit 68597433AA.

Also, not all greases are compatible so a thorough cleansing of the splines may be needed before applying a different grease.

I dropped my truck off at the dealer today for a couple of things, one of them was to get on “the list” for new fancy “anti-clunking” parts & lube. The dealer knows next to nothing about the bulletin. Hopefully I get the call in Oct/Nov to get the upgrades. If you are not on the list, you probably should get on soon. I am sure these new parts are going on new TRX’s with a limited allocation for older ones that make a complaint.

I talked to my dealer today...I brought the star case printout from this forum and he said they could not find it. He thought it may have been pulled back. This is a trusted dealer and service advisor. @RamCares

I bought in the Star bulletin last week (which they were familiar with) and set a appointment for tomorrow.

It is still there. It has been renamed and listed in a different area with an actual TSB number. The whole form has been reformatted as well.
TSB: 03-004-22
Subject: Rear Propshaft Clunk.

Thanks, man...this is very helpful!

Now let's hope this fix sticks.

Here is why they could no longer find the Star Bulletin. My truck was built on 2/28/2022 and the cut off is trucks built before 02/21/2022...so weird because the tech was able to duplicate the issue so not sure why they chose that as a cut off date.
