New screen with update?

If people are really interested in forcing some action on this, please file a report with NHTSA. The blank screen (loosing access to backup camera) and reboots while driving are both safety issues. Simply go to this link and inout your truck information: https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem

Here is a cut and paste template for the issue statement, just add your year and issues:
My 20[XX] Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates.

The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information.

Owners across multiple years consistently report:
• Black screens, freezes, and reboots
• Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions
• Backup camera not displaying
• Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open
• Uconnect error messages
• Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates
• Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures
• No option to decline or roll back OTA updates

These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion.

My vehicle experiences the same issues, including: [Insert brief personal symptoms: e.g., black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc.]

Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

If enough of us file complaints it will force an investigation.
Thanks yeah i lurk this forum alot I am way to busy for this shit. you bet your ass i filed a report @RamCares i have a choice and i am done with this fuckery i ferry my loved ones around next time im buying bmw fuck the french fuck stella tis have a nice day see you on the other side asshole

We wanted to check in with everyone and let you know that the fixes we are still waiting on will not launch in this calendar year
While I appreciate the transparency, I don't think anyone is shocked about this news.

I'm going to reference post #937 again:
RamCares previously stated that an update would be rolled out by the end of September 2025, but here we are on October 1st, and nothing has changed. These repeated delays without clear communication are unacceptable, especially for owners who paid for a premium vehicle and expect it to perform and appear as advertised.

We need a REAL update. Not another vague timeline or empty assurance. What's the actual status of the fix, and when can we expect it to roll out?

If a fix really exists or is in development, where is the Service Bulletin? Instead, owners are left in the dark, and dealers don't know anything either. At this point, it's clear this isn't just a minor delay, it's a widespread problem that should already have an official fix documented and available through dealerships.

Owners deserve better communication and action. The issue impacts core functionality and presentation of a premium vehicle we paid top dollar for.

@RamCares:
  1. Please provide a clear status update. A real, no-fluff update with concrete information. Not another postponed date or vague promise.
  2. Confirmation of a Service Bulletin tied to this issue.
  3. Clear communication and coordination with dealerships, so they know how to support affected owners.
  4. Transparency on what caused the issue, how it's being fixed, who is impacted, and why the impacts reflect different VINs differently.

I understand that @RamCares is part of the Customer Care Team at Stellantis who works in partnership with dealerships and various colleagues to assist the needs of Ram customers. I understand your main role here on the forum is to offer us an additional level of personal service by proactively monitoring this forum for our concerns.

With that being said, I appreciate the time you've taken out to provide updates to us from the software team. But, the vague updates you provide lead to more frustration. Letting forum members know that the fix won't launch this calendar year leads to more questions from users, such as: will the fix come in 2026? 2027? ETA month? As stated above in item #1, a clear status update with concrete information is what we'd like to know otherwise your check-in update with us is fruitless.

Seems like Ram is waiting/delaying a fix, until we're all out of warranty.

Has anyone had this happen? You put the truck in reverse, check the Uconnect screen, see the cameras working, look away for a second to check your mirrors, then look back—and the camera feed is frozen even though it looks like it’s still active? Thankfully my sensors caught it, or this could’ve ended badly.

This is becoming unbelievable. Uconnect has been getting worse: slow response times, lagging, freezing, blue screens on the camera feed, random restarts, audio stuttering, you name it. I work in IT—I know nothing is perfect—but when the system freezes while I’m backing up and almost causes an accident, that’s a serious problem. The only thing that saved me was the sensors. Uconnect definitely didn’t help. Just one more issue on an already long list.

I’ve also noticed that the last camera image sometimes sticks in memory. For example, I backed up at one location, drove to another, parked, and when I reversed again, the Uconnect showed the camera image from the previous parking spot. Completely unacceptable.

Yep, first happened to me on Labor Day and then randomly since then, including just last night. I also told @RamCares in a PM and they acknowledged receipt, but apparently it's going to take the NHTSA stepping in to hopefully get something done sooner.

What about the navigation issue in the Digital Dash? Could care less about some stupid graphics, how about telling us when your going to restore functionality
What’s confusing about the digital dash navigation issue (on my 2024) is it works only once a day…starting the TRX for the first time for the day (with the navigation option displayed) it works perfectly until I turn the truck off…if I restart the truck 1 minute after, 1 hour or 5 hours later, no display until the next day…crazy 🦖

Here's a new one (to me anyway). The front USB ports started freezing up a few days ago. The light would go off anytime I plugged anything into one of the ports. (it was dead). I'd pull out the USB device and power would come back in about 15 seconds, but kept going out when I plugged something back in. Power cycled the truck and still wouldn't work. Let it sit overnight and it's working fine again. At least for now.

Hi everyone,
We wanted to check in with everyone and let you know that the fixes we are still waiting on, including the correction to the HP in the Performance Pages, will not launch in this calendar year. We realize this is incredibly disappointing news but wanted to make sure everyone was aware that we are still waiting for this launch and know this continues to be an issue.

As always, once we know more, we will share it here.

Ram Cares
Thanks for wading into shark infested waters to give us an update, even if it's just to reiterate the status quo.

I hope RAM realizes that the issues have escalated beyond just superficial graphics and labeling quirks. For many of us, maybe even most, the issues have devolved into more dire problems.

Now beginning to think the fixes will simply coincide with the availability of the 2026 TRX. If not then, it won't be fixed.

Maybe, they won't be fixing it but will offer existing TRX owners a discount on trading in on a new TRX. If so, you can be sure it will just be crumbs. :)

Same unless you do that settings theme trick upon every start up. But I also noticed if you use CarPlay map for navigation then the digital cluster map no longer works. That never used to happen. Anybody got a weird fix for that?

Adding my info next. I rarely drive my truck and when I do glitch madness happens. This is beyond annoying, the part that annoys me most is my damn cluster navigation just a black screen, and drive mode not latching on screen. Also get rid of the stupid ev looking font while you’re at it @RamCares

Enterprise car rental had thousands of durangos that they couldn't rent because of a possible with the backup cameras being recalled with no fix. It took over a month to repair. So why are our TRX'S any different. It's been broken for going on a year

Yep. Happened to me too.

Unfortunately I have had two weeks of just BS unconnect issues. Had to pull over to the side of the road in freezing temps with my family on a roadtrip to try to reset the system and wait out battery resets. Unacceptable. With no prospect of a fix soon I’m moving on this week and under a contract for a new truck and not with a RAM. I hope Ramscare lets whoever up above know they have lost a customer due to the utter incompetence of their software team. Love ya all, it’s been a fun ride, especially during the Bambi tenure, RIP to the TRX GOAT. I’ll check in occasionally down the road. Peace!!

Crossposting from the other thread for visibility.
One day my radio will buzz at me and need a reset, next screen is jumping and need to go to climate page so it stops, and it cuts out while using carplay. Just waiting for the next glitch to pop up. Great truck, but man its annoying after so many months with no update available.
I had the same issue along with many other people in this thread. I had my local CDJR service department take a look after I brought it in for an unrelated rust issue (in Phoenix! due to a bad stamp job on my roof) and they claimed they couldn't even run a diag on Unconnect due to hardware errors. I have no way of verifying that, however.

They then asked if I had a supplemental warranty as my 2 year warranty had lapsed about 10 days prior. Since I did not, the cost was going to be $1500 to replace the unit that had been compromised by the faulty updates at no fault of my own.

The local CDJR was able to extend a goodwill offer of about $300 dollars to replace. Because the truck was essentially undriveable due to the infotainment glitches I agreed and had it replaced.

The build version the new unit came with appears to be the same as my old unit: FCA-MY24.U35.26-PROD. While the glitches have disappeared for now, it is still not as snappy as it had been in the past.

Having @RamCares insist that updates coming soon would fix it cost me $300 and could have been as much as $1500 or more.

All around, the experience has left a lot to desire and I am not looking forward to a very likely relapse of the issue.

There's nothing about the Uconnect5 module that affects performance of the truck. Did the dealer update other modules at the same time?

I meant the responsiveness of the uconnect system itself. Pressing an icon has a slight delay. Enough to be noticible but not entirely horrible.

It can change shift points and throttle response thats not performance?

Did anyone ask Santa for a fix on this?😂 Merry Christmas everyone🎄
I didn’t even ask for the update, but it appears to have finished this morning.
